If you can draw your pistol and have good iron sight alignment, then you’ll automatically have the red dot in the window and be able to use it. There’s actually more leeway with red dots than there is with irons. For example; If you draw your gun and purposely put the red dot all the way to the extreme left, right, top, or bottom of the window; you’ll notice that the irons are not even close to being properly aligned but you can still use the red dot and place it over your intended target. All it comes down to really is practice. If you’re drawing your gun and your red dot isn’t somewhere in your window, that also means that your not instinctually aligning your irons either. Since the red dot is a finer point of aim, it’s easier to magnify your flaws. I had to go through the same thing. Practice drawing your gun and dry fire.
