For what it’s worth, I’ve heard some iffy things with Shadow Systems lately. I myself would stay away from them and go one of your other routes.

If you’re not looking to have any performance increase, then I wouldn’t port it. Maybe possibly just some front serrations for manipulations would be helpful and it would still remove a tiny bit of weight. When you get into porting sometimes it’s turns into a balancing act to get it to function correctly. Due to the redirected gasses being pushed upward from a comp/port, it takes away some of the rear inertia that’s created to cycle the slide. I’m not saying it would definitely be an issue, plenty of guns run fine with porting and don’t require a ton of tuning, just a heads up.
Any feedback on Burris fast fire 3?
I wouldn’t! That housing isn’t going to protect that lens from impacts much at all.
I have one on one of my Ruger Mark 4’s. It’s been pretty good for Thursday night bullseye shooting but I would not recommend it for any carry use.

Anyone else use their iron front sight like a red dot? For a very long time I've used the front sight all by itself when 10 yards and in. At that distance you're so close that most if not all shot's will be acceptable for self-defense. Of course when doing this, shots are going to be a tiny bit high which is why I use a 6 o'clock hold (which I've always preferred). You can be very fast on even 6 inch plates and torso targets forget about it. The sight picture would look like this with anywhere below, left or right of the arrow being a good hit. This degrades going out to 25 yards but that should be obvious. When you get good at it there is very little target obstruction.
That being said of course there are advantages of a red dot. Never used one on a pistol but plan on getting one soon to try it out. For all those here with experience. Is picking it up (as in learning not in the window) really that difficult especially if you already have a background in red dots on rifles? I get that the dot reciprocates on a pistol but the idea of transposing the dot on the target would be nothing new. Seems like you should be able to pick it up pretty easily if your presentation is already good.

I didn’t have much of a problem at all transitioning to optics on pistols. If you anre instinctively able to align your irons properly to begin with, then you’ll also see the red dot in the window. Once you get the new presentation, you’re golden. Just rep it out until it’s second nature which really shouldn’t take that long.

I can double tap small (swinging) plates with this technique using hot loaded rounds. I think this could be improved even more with a comp but that's another discussion
Using the front sight and it being an iron sight gives you two focal planes. 1) front sight and 2) target. Once you get a red dot you’ll see the benefits of red dots over irons, especially where you truly only have just one focal plane.This is good to hear. And I suspected as much. Maybe I have this wrong but, what is considered 1 focal plane? When I raise the gun I'm looking at the target and then front sight sits on the target. The target is in focus and the sight is in my peripheral and not sharp and focused. It's almost like I'm looking through the front sight, without really looking at the sight.

A focal plane is a certain depth at which your eyes need to focus. Since your front sight and target are at different ranges it creates two separate focal planes to look at. With a red dot you only have to look at the target because the red dot imitates being on the same focal plane as the target. All you’re doing in superimposing it over the target.

Just like Will said. Think of a focal plane like a movie screen- everything on, (and at the same distance as that screen), are on the same focal plane. A dot sight appears to the eye to be at the same spot (focal plane) as whatever you’re aiming at, while an iron sight is fuzzy, blurry, transparent, etc while you’re focused on the target, and vice versa while you’re fixated on the iron sight. The dot sight makes shooting both eyes open much faster and easier than doing the same with irons, and that alone increases your ability to have even better situational awareness. If you can see with both eyes looking past the barrel, for example, you can see additional threats or distinguish between danger and non-threatening elements.
This is honestly a GREAT video to watch on the subject. It is lengthy but for people that really want to watch and listen to the subject and see how some of the aspects work down to the scientific level, this is a good one and worth it. It has a ton of information in it. Take the time to watch this even if you watch it a little bit at a time. The three men in it are Mark Smith of JBS Training Group, Bill Blowers of Tap Rack Tactical, and the third is Joshua Goetz who is an Optometrist and a shooter as well.

Same here. I want to get a threaded barrel, light and irons for the gun I'm working on first. Maybe even a comp. The dot will come last. I'm looking at the 508T (green).
I knew about that awhile ago, I can’t remember when I heard him say that he was going to be doing that.

This is what I got so far. Added an Agency Arms syndicate magwell. It's P80 specific and cheap. No way I was spending 80-100 dollars on a damn magwell. The little lip at the bottom makes the grip alot nicer which is what my intended purpose for it was. The TLR7A is sweet. Tested it outside and it's fantastic. Such a small and compact but powerful little light. Also an Agency Arms barrel. I didn't want TIN but it was 52% making it under $100. They make a very good barrel and considering that I paid more for a threaded lone wolf barrel back in 2013 there is no way I could pass it up. I'll color it with a sharpie or something if it bothers me that much.
Now I have to decide on the sights. Don't know if I want to get the night fision .290-.313 sights or full on suppressor height. I wish I had a red dot i could try to see how busy suppressor heights are in the window. This is a dilemma because I'll go with the lower sights if I put a dedicated comp on but would like the suppressor height if I actually want to use a can. But then again I do just fine with standard height sights and shooting through the can.

I thought he did it more as a side gig since he instructed classes and the like... shame, I did like watching him, had great info, but I'm not paying $5/month (or more) to watch a video every 3-6 months when a new optic comes out.
Speaking of, I've got the itch to replace my 507k with an enclosed EPS Carry, but HOLY COW when did Holosuns get so expensive? And they're apparently aggressive about going after retailers breaking MAP.

My wife gave me a 507k (green) for Christmas, to put on my 365X. It mounted up easily and zeroed in a handful of shots. It’s accurate at 25 yds, the farthest I’ve tried so far. Pretty impressive for a 3.1” barrel. Love Holosun.

Question for Sig gurus !
Tomorrow I’m picking up a P320 x carry spectre and need to know specifically what I need to mount a rmr on it .
According to Sig a trijicon rmr will mount directly to the slide without adapter plate ? I of course will use a sealing plate. I guess my biggest question is what screws will I need ? Sig sells a sealing plate and screw set specifically for a rmr , but unfortunately they are out of stock . They fail to mention the screw size . Will the screws that come with the rmr work ?
I have a rmr on a custom slide for my G19 and with the slide came screws that the slide company said to use vs the screws from trijicon.
I appreciate any help as this will be my first p320 .thanks!
