I think we would be wise to remember the past and oblige the Chinese in not having US troops set foot in NK. We are not there to occupy or conquer. We are not there to, in anyway, threaten China or make the mistakes of Vietnam and get involved in another countries civil war. We take out the direct threat to our national security and let SK and NK deal with their differences. If need be we help on the humanitarian side.

Yes we need to monitor the situation, build better antimissile defenses, and upgrade our border security. Give it a year or two and quietly remove troops as the South Koreans and Japanese ramp up their own defenses. If any country or organization actually harms Americans then totally crush them with disproportionate force. But otherwise it's time to pick up our shoes and shuffle out the back door....

we have to be careful of a "hands off" approach. First, the Koreans.....North and South HATE the Japanese. One of the first places the Japs invaded in 1938-39 (whatever year it was) was Korea. And they made slaves of the Koreans. So naturally, the Koreans do not like the Japs. Koreans have a very long memory.
Two, North Korea isn't going to nuke anyone. It would end badly for everyone, but it would be devastating for Kim. South Korea would become an island. Hundreds of millions of people would die. Entire economies would be devastated. Not even Kim is that stupid. If the U.S. and N.K go at it, it would devastate both China and Russia too.

Yes you are right, we don't have to agree. Counter points are what makes good discussion. You just seemed annoyed with our interest in this issue. For the record, I wasn't trying to be a jerk to you with what I said.
I myself don't necessarily want war, I'm concerned it will actually happen and yes, I am at the point of "just do it already" because I'm tired of all the brinksmanship.
And like most wars, we're going into it without having a vital national interest... and had we either been better negotiators - or better yet, not gotten involved in foreign entanglements (per Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, etc.) could have been avoided.
There is still hope that China trumps down on the little guy.
I'm only annoyed with the situation, not the discussion. And that's a good observation, we wouldn't be here at all if we all knew everything and agreed on everything.

Well there are consequences to doing nothing also . 1, this crazy mutt will continue to pursue even larger and more dangerous weapons which will be capable of inflicting tremendous damage to the US homeland in the not to distant future. 2 , Iran can develop and deploy Nuclear missiles on their own or bought from NK without fear of being attacked by the US , With those types of weapons The US can no longer secure the Persian gulf and the oil fields of Saudi Arabia. The American empire will decline slowly .and with it goes its economy , as the US will be unable to control markets any longer.

NK's missile launch site should, this moment, be in flames along with the facility that is believed to house more of them and that created them.

Seriously the NK nukes are just for show. If anyone was serious about actually harming us all they have to do is drop open a package of radioactive medical waste on a busy Manhattan street. Or send real Anthrax to random people via mail. Or toss a vial of LSD into a water reservoir. Even if it didn't kill that many people it would cripple our economy and politics for years, costing us trillions and much hardship.
That they haven't indicates that they aren't actually out to kill us... they simply want a deterrent. After all we managed to kill the despots of Libya and Iraq... Kim sees this and recognizes a nuke is the best way to protect himself.

Diplomatic means are not working. Our choices are clear. We either actually do something by force or we walk away and accept a nuclear Nk. They are not scared of us, they pretty much can't get any poorer. So sanctions just end up being used against us. If they really are a threat, we need to eliminate the threat. If they really aren't a threat we need to stop paying attention to them.

All the numbers of their forces, etc. is just worthless. Their command and control will be eviscerated from air and then these units will quickly starve as planes fly overhead.
I bet a lot of these vids are just silly things they put on national tv to make the masses think their soldiers are badass. Hollywood does the same in the US but it's not nearly as embarrassing.
