Yeah, definitely a good shoot. He wasn't a direct threat to the class anymore, but lethal force to stop him from killing another person with a screwdriver (cop or not) definitely justified.

IDK, maybe it's me but why doesn't the guy (student) with the blue t-shirt and baseball cap sitting next to the thief say something or react when the thief was going through the classmates bag? He just sits there next to the thief, watching him the whole time go through the classmate's bag. What hell? He (blue t-shirt guy) probably saw/noticed the classmate when the class started. Then during the break someone different sits down next to him and starts going through the classmate's bag, don't you say something? Don't you react? Nope, he just sits there watching.

A good response but maybe they should have put their firearms down when LE showed up. The potential for cross-fire and all that machismo was problematic, especially if the family decides to file a lawsuit. Never the less, the gene pool has ben thinned out just a bit.

This mans life could have been spared, if they knew how to speak to him calmly. Once he stabbed the officer in the neck with the screwdriver it should have been evident that he was upset .
NY has some of the most liberal (most allowable) laws on the books when it comes to DF being used.
They defended LE from an active deadly threat. Did you watch the video? Guns were not drawn when LE arrived.
You don't know who's who and the situation. Easy to say sitting home already having the story and seeing the video though. For all he knew it was the guys best friend and they were sharing the bag. 100 reasons not to get involved. You simply cannot know. Easy to be a Monday morning QB though.
