It has also came out per the AP, that Brooks was on probation and had like 7 convictions for crimes such as kidnapping, assault, assault against a child etc. Haven't seen it in writing anywhere but was on the radio this AM.

As much as I am disgusted with NYS and NYC it would be hard to envision the crap that just happened with the Atlanta Fulton County DA office's embellished charges for a police officer of happening in even our most god forsaken DA offices. We have been able to see the same evidence used by the Fulton Co DA for the charges issued and it was nauseating to hear the travesty develop and the unnecessary red meat tossed to enrage an already hostile mob. For god sakes he was charging the officer with a death penalty charge and then goes on how he kicked Mr Brooks.

How about because he was fighting and resisting? If the knee was lifted he would have continued to fight and try to get up/get away. He needed to be physically restrained due to his unruly actions. The neck restraint was taught and approved by the department and was in accordance with their procedures.
