Sadly no. Noodling around the internets pulls up no end of whining over the Ace's polymer components and its M4esque stock. In person though it all works well.

What about a flash can so it'll direct the noise away from you?
Correct, just the magazine housing and grip are polymer in an integral single piece that is attached to the steel receiver. Not unlike the polymer grip frame of an STI 2011 or the Sphinx SDP. The fact that this allows the use of cheap and widely available SR25 magazines is a major advantage over competing non AR 308s like the SCAR.
I'm inclined to just stay with the muzzle brake.
Rapid 308 fire in an 8lb rifle wouldn't be especially pleasant without an effective brake. Besides I kinda like drawing attention on the range
. I would be a little self conscious at an indoor range though. I once got stuck next to a guy shooting a M1A SOCOM at an indoor facility and that thing was just brutal to be around! Outside it shouldn't be a big deal though.

Not true. The same can in that video I put on my x39 and it works well. I also make subsonic rounds for my ak that cycle and are quieter than my 300 blk.
A suppresed AK will be quieter yes, but still have a lot of piston pop.

Yes a 16 is too short for a 308 but one can work on finding ammo that works better for that type of length so
not so much powder is wasted doing nothing.
BTW Amazing tool. The orignal well made kalash from molot or izmash are good ones in the sense that have very
nice chf barrels and very hard russian steel but comparing a kalash with this type of galil is like comparing a ford f150
with a hummer. Both good trucks but in a complete different league.

Is a Hummer better than an F150?
I will be feeding her a steady diet of Russian steel case. The Barnaul stuff and the Ulyanovsk plant stuff are said to be more consistent than the Tula ammo and therfore decently accurate.
If I can get 2 MOA with steel ammo I don't think I'd buy much else.

The Ace undergoes its final 922r compliance assembly at IWI's US subsidiary in Harrisburg PA. Thats where my Home Terminal is located. I guess I won't have far to go if I need parts or service.

Also the muzzle brake came loose, but that was easily corrected.
That brake is however definitely staying on the rifle.
It was extremely pleasant to shoot, very flat and the recoil was similar to a 7.62x39 gun. None of the blast comes back to the shooter though it is stupid loud. I did stand to one side while somone else fired it and as one might imagine the blast is considerable.
Also it does this to brass:
It kicks em out with vigor to 10 yards or so at 1 o'clock. I assume the case gets creased as it hits to top cover on the way out.
It was difficult to gauge accuracy as I never made it to the 100-200 yard lines and that front sight post and large aperture is difficult to be precise with but I was one holing my sight in groups at 25 yards, regularly. It needs an optic. I'm thinking of going with an ACOG. Seems a well suited optic for this gun. Also may try the PA prism scopes, anyone have any experience with those? 3x or 5x?

You have the adjustable gas system you may need to turn it down. Most 308 rifles are over gassed it seems my HK was way over and I had it 2 clicks out from bottom.
There is no adjustable gas system on the Galil Ace. Updated though it may be it is very much a Kalashnikov at heart. A very nice Kalashnikov.
Took her out for a brief range session to verify function with 100 rounds of brass case. No issues. Also yanked off the red dot from the Daniel Defense and put it on the Ace. Zeroed it at 25 yards for the class next month.
Looks good don't it? With a 2 MOA dot, as opposed to the fat sight post, this rifle is pretty accurate. Still gonna throw an ACOG or similar on it though. I'll put the red dot back on the DD until I can get it scoped also.

I bought 8 more of the mags in the first pics. I figure 10+ plus the other odd 4 should be a good working amount to start with. I should get some 10 rounders too I think. Maybe 2 of em, for bench work.

I'm looking into where I could take this thing on a hog hunt! I think it would be a pretty good hog hammer actually. I went hog hunting in Texas once, had fun.
Looks like all the goodies I bought for the Ace have arrived and are waiting for me to get back.
But wouldn't you know? I bought the 10" Midwest rail simply because the extended one was out of stock but now its in stock again. Sigh.
Oh well. I also got a BCM stubby foregrip and some rail covers from Strike Industries. I have similar setups on my other rifles, that being some form of handstop and rail covers that encircle the griped area of the handguard, and I like it. Helps me quickly index my hand and allows me to very firmly lock the rifle in my shoulder. I may add a forward finger stop also as I like to use such to wrap the forefinger around but I going to wait until I see how everything else sits on the Ace. I ended up going with the BFG Vickers sling again. It was easier to configure it with different attachment points on either end. I'll need an HK hook for the rear and a QD swivel at the front. I have Vickers slings on my other two rifles and I really like them, this time though I went with the padded version. I'm also pretty dead set on a TA11 3.5x ACOG for it too. But I'm going to wait a month. An ACOG would be a hinderence at the point blank ranges of the class I'm taking and I won't have time to zero a scope that week anyway. But the next month I'll throw one on and buy a bunch of different 20 round boxes of ammo to see what she likes best. I've heard pretty good things about the Malaysian surplus I bought.

Oh yeah, @GOPerfect..... I looked at one of those Atlas bipods like in the pic you posted. Thems are $275-$325!! Think I'll just stick with a shooting bag for now.
