My new Galil Ace 308

Had someone at a party recently trying to sell me a FAL with 5 20 round mags for 2gs. If only I wasn't so worried about felonies

I once had a really nice DS Arms Stg58 Para.
It was my favorite gun at the time. Its hard to say exactly since its been 10 years since I owned the FAL but I do belive I like the Galil better. I definitely prefer it to any G3/CETME type I've fired as well as any M1A type. I never fired a SCAR though and I think that is the only real competition this gun has, with the SCAR prolly being tge better of the two, conditionally. I'm not a bullpup fan so I won't speak to the KelTec RFB nor the intriguing Desert Tech MDR.

All of which is a moot point since in NYS the only viable option for a short semi auto .308 carbine is an M1A SOCOM, or whatever Bastardized AR10 type you could have.

All right got the last thing I will ever put on this thing. It's a Streamlight ProTac HL-X 1,000 lumen light on a Magpul extended cantilever mount. Makes for a nice clean installation. And jeezus is it bright! Don't think I really want to know the all up weight at this point. Whatever it is, its manageable.
Taking it out to the range on Sunday with a small assortment of ammo and a good bit of Agulia 150gr stuff. Its labeled as 7.62x51 but I don't think its M80 spec ammo.

Sure, I believe you, I really do. Where is the NVG comparable laser and the thermal imaging system with Bluetooth connection to the iPhone?

No, that's really it. Well I will eventually be getting a really nice Atlas bipod but I'm not counting that beacuse it will be a QD model and it will be shared among my other rifles. Other than that I may swap out optics.
I need to focus on getting the new DD setup now.
I wanna put a Hiperfire 24 trigger in it and I still want that Nightforce NX8 on there. Both the Nightforce and the ACOG may get swapped back and forth.

So, I experienced a weird and annoying issue with the QD mount for the ACOG

The astute among you will notice that I have reversed the mount so that the locking lever is on the left side now. I had originally mounted it the other way around to keep my knuckles well clear of the lever as I worked the charging handle. Unfortunately the Ace has a wild and forceful ejection pattern and every now and again a spent case would strike the QD lever with enough force to overcome the secondary locking tab and uncerimoniously dump the optic and mount of over the left side of the rifle. This happened several times and is obviously no good so I reversed it to keep the lever away from the ejected cases. My knuckles clear the lever when working the action so I think I'll be alright there. The interesting part is that even after being violently dumped off the rifle 5 times the mount and lever is still tight and secure and the scope actually retained perfect zero each and every time! It's a good mount I think.

P.S. ACOG gave zero fucks about being dumped onto the concrete pad from bench height multiple times.
