Are you a righty? If so and you ever sling it on in front of you, the charging handle will stab you in the chest or stomach and your sling will get in the way for magazine changes.
I did what you did but changed everything back to the outside after running some drills at home.
@Camaro45th , Glad I saw your post yesterday as today they are out of stock.

I noticed that too. The barrel doesn’t move as much as it did with my AR9.Shot mine for the first time yesterday! We put close to 200 rounds through it. A lot of fun and definitely a softer recoil impulse than my AR9. The GF loves it. The sights were pretty well on too, especially since it was all offhand or kneeling, not bench shooting. I am very happy with it. Well worth the trade.

They finally release the enclosed version of the handguard you have?Yeah. Saw that during my searches. The guy made it himself. He does say that the iron sight slightly obstructs the window though.
I have since decided against irons. Today’s red dots are almost indestructible and the battery lasts 5 years of constantly being on. I’ve never seen a military aimpoint go down. They even work with cracked glass or no glass. I think about the only way for them to fail is if an EMP takes them out but some even say they may survive that.
No. I wrote them twice and they haven’t responded. They finally release the enclosed version of the handguard you have?
Actually:No. I wrote them twice and they haven’t responded.
They should really work on making that prototype top cover a reality because people will buy other hand guards from other companies that have them now. They aren’t the only game in town now and will suffer.
Well I’ll be damned. LOL. Looks like they ignored me cuz I’m an asshole. lol.Actually:

That looks really, really cool. So much so it's a toss up between this and the AK-V.
I think I would follow your example and ditch the front post. And I liked the sight picture in the link I previously posted, a barrel mounted pistol red dot has a nice open view. I'm thinking the new Trijicon SRO would be perfect on this.
Betcha they send one to you for free.Well I’ll be damned. LOL. Looks like they ignored me cuz I’m an asshole. lol.
I’m getting this done. This seems to be the best alternative now because it has the quick release sling points already built in.
I would have to send them my existing handguard so that they can drill and thread the holes.Betcha they send one to you for free.
Okay, beats buying a whole second one. Or maybe they just exchange it? Or maybe the tell you to go fuck yourself, dunno till you ask.I would have to send them my existing handguard so that they can drill and thread the holes.

But I am thinking in today's online review culture most companies will try to take care of their customers.
@Camaro45th. I don't know if you noticed this the Ruger factory handguard only has M-lok slots on 4 sides and the Midwestern are on all 8 side, I don't know if it will matter?
From the website "This bridge is a direct bolt on for current rails that have the 6 threaded holes on the top of the existing rail but you can also send in a previous iteration for a drill and tap service to get the same fitment."Okay, beats buying a whole second one. You don't really need 7 side MLok slots. 3 sides is ample. There are numerous styles of 45° offsets for mounting your light in the 9 or 3 o'clock positions if desired.@Camaro45th.
