The real problem with North Korea is not the Nukes or the so called "cyber capability". It is the fact that if we "go in" to stop them, they have a standing army size of 1.2 million active soldiers with like another 7 million reserves. Yes they may have out dated gear and i know that the US military is the best in the world. But 1.2 million starving Koreans can still put a hurting on whoever crosses the line.

North Korea reminds me of an incident back when I was an early teenager, visiting a friend in one of the burbs we went to a local soda shop that was a big hangout for people our age and mostly slightly older. Course, there was a group there that we would have called 'hoods' and looked the part, like a bunch of 1950's movie extras. Well this little hood fellow with the corkscrew hair and a leather jacket, for a motorcycle I'm sure he was yet to own, was mouthing of to this other clean-cut, high school football looking guy big time, for no real reason other than to make trouble, so the preppy guy ignored him for a time and obviously becoming fed up got up and confronted the little greaser with a few choice words and the usual invitation to step outside, the place up to that point was humming with activity normally associated with an informal gathering of teens, became quiet as a library as the little guy mocked the bigger teen, when the good guy query's something to the effect 'c'mon tough guy, who do you think you are?', well the little punk sat there grinning an oily grin and says 'who me, nobody, I'm his mouth', and hooks his thumb over at a guy that looks like Andre the giant, and unhappy to boot. The point is, NK is China's mouth, and China could have squashed them years ago, but the mouse that roars served them a great purpose so they gave them a long leash. With nukes, the dynamic has changed somewhat and NK is more free ranging than tethered, but China still is their most important ally.

Well, and I think between on-line and reserve we have 7,500 nuclear ICBM's good to go. How could they possibly fuck with us? How could ANYONE possibly fuck with us? And Trump Train said he would modernize our military; which will make it even beefier. We already spend more on defense than like the next 10 nations combined and 10x Russia, 6x China, and something like 20x North Korea. Obama would nuke their asses. He's more into talk and less into action than Dubya by a long shot; but at some point any POTUS is gonna press the shiny red button. People probably don't matter. In a SHTF scenario, how fast could we make a bunch of those neutron bombs? Those drop everyone right where they stand and don't hurt any structures whatsoever so you get to keep the bad guys weapons and materiel.

I think i read somewhere NK has a sub or two. If San Fran gets nuked there will probably be no more stock market. Remember San Fran is where most big tech companies are headquartered, there was nothing in New Orleans that can't be replaced (except the people) so it's not quite the same. As far as NK losing all it's civilian population goes, from what i see Kim Jung dip shit doesn't really care about them. If he cared just a little he wouldn't let the children in his country starve. Another thing to consider, you don't even need ICBM's anymore. You can put the warheads in shipping containers. They don't get checked until they are already in the ports in LA or Seattle. By then it's to late.

I don't worry about their ICBM, I worry about fed ex freight as a delivery method.

A nuke going off in the port of NY at the customs inspection office will do as much damage as an ICBM, and it's something that every nut case in the world count do, if only they has the nuke.

The real problem with North Korea is that China backs them. Overt, direct military action against North Korea means risking war with China and that ain't good. And China has been slowly backing away from its troublesome little pet for a while now. As China continues to withdraw it's support North Korea will surely collapse and then Korean reunification will occur. North Korea barks a lot but they don't bite, maybe a little nip every now and then.

The world is watching Trump. Many think he is all talk, others think he is over inflated and still others think he is crazy to the point of not knowing what he is doing. Someone is going to test him to see how he reacts. It wont be an attach directly on the US rather someone will do something against a US interest and see what the reaction is. If it is weak (and I doubt it will be), it would open the door for a North Korea to move beyond threats.
