Man, talk about strict. No forearms?Even many pro-gun states have areas which are statutorily off-limits for CCW. There are also pro-gun states in which "no forearms on premises" signs carry the force of law.

I was going to pick up a gun from my aging father. I added it to my license (took 5 minutes) and then went to pick it up. The description of the gun and serial # I took to the pistol clerk was scrawled on a stickie note. No problem.Let's not forget the time it takes to add a gun to your permit. Recently it took almost 8 weeks from the time of purchase until I could pick it up. Tell me again how this is like other pro gun states?
I used to be able to buy a pistol, bring the receipt to the permit department, leave with an amended permit and coupon and go back to the store to do the 4473/walk out with pistol in hand. All in the same day. That changed a number of years ago. This time a judge had to sign off on the amendment. Almost 8 weeks for that to happen. They were really good here. Not anymore, I predict.
New York has always been a patchwork, and even specific counties changed policies when they changed judges. Or even when the judge changed his mind over policy issues.I used to be able to buy a pistol, bring the receipt to the permit department, leave with an amended permit and coupon and go back to the store to do the 4473/walk out with pistol in hand. Grew up on Long Island. Wasn't involved with firearms. Ulster county changed for the worse over the recent years. Really no reason to have to wait 8 weeks to add a pistol to a permit other than burdening the law abiding citizen.New York has always been a patchwork, and even specific counties changed policies when they changed judges. Life is also about contrasts and what you are used to. I grew up in NYC when having a pistol license was incredibly rare, even just for target. I guess from my vantage point and background, upstate seemed wonderful. I did not grow up in Vermont or Montana. Or even upstate NY when open carry was OK. I suppose my mindset would be different if I had.
When my father was going through the NYC application process in the 1970s, it was done at the local precinct. Totally $$$ corrupt.Grew up on Long Island. Wasn't involved with firearms. Still a huge hassle to have to drive back and fourth between gun store and permit office. I remember when I first got my permit, my judge took almost a month to sign off on my first handgun. I went and bought another just to remind him I was still waiting on the first, lol. He signed off on both shorlty after, lol. It eased up tho. I guess the judge started to allow other judges to sign off on his subject's amendments. That or the clerk just handed the amendment forms to other judges because my judge took so long. Idk. Even with counties that gave you coupons in advance, it's still a pain in the ass.I used to be able to buy a pistol, bring the receipt to the permit department, leave with an amended permit and coupon and go back to the store to do the 4473/walk out with pistol in hand. Ok, was kinda confused with some of the games being played. Was that Bill passed and signed, or still being hashed out? That was in a different bill.
Especially when they are more likely to commit a crime when compared to a permit holder.Nobody gives a shit anymore about LEO exemptions, sorry. Make it like Canada so you cant even carry off duty or at home. Its time they feel the burn too. Im tired of police being treated like they are better than us plebz.
I have been privileged (yes, I'll use that word) to live in Orleans County.Still a huge hassle to have to drive back and fourth between gun store and permit office.
There is that pesky little thing of "Probable Cause" and it's pretty strongly defined when it comes to vehicles and traffic stops.Just to let you know with the search warrant and auto exception. The police can seize the box if you refuse to open it and hold on to it while waiting for the search warrant.
The self defeatist's will be along to doom & gloom my post with 'Doesn't matter, we can't win" and if the effort is abysmal, they will be correct.I have been privileged (yes, I'll use that word) to live in Orleans County.
Our Judge doesn't drag his feet with permit applications. Mine too two months, the wife's took one month.
We also have "pre-purchase coupons" that allow us to buy a pistol and take it home that day, and THEN add it to our permit.
And still I was incensed when they took away the lifetime permits, and I'm absolutely outraged they are further infringing by lowering the time to three years, and requiring classes just to recertify.
Add to that the delays we can expect from the State Police when buying guns or ammo, the additional costs, the databases of what we own, the elimination of our ability to defend ourselves...
For a Right that is supposedly protected by such strong language as "shall not be infringed" it's pretty damned infringed.
I was going to say a few other things, but I would expect my door to get kicked in if I do. Suffice to say, we should do everything in our power, legally, to oppose this tyrant in EVERYTHING she does or wants.
If we see her in public we should immediately protest her, and call our friends to protest her. Apparently that is perfectly legal.
Maybe we should picket outside her residence? That also appears to be perfectly legal.
No violence. Just make sure our voices are heard.
There is that pesky little thing of "Probable Cause" and it's pretty strongly defined when it comes to vehicles and traffic stops.
The only state which has not ever 'infringed' to my knowledge and within my lifetime is Vermont. Today, Constitutional Carry is the law in 25 states."shall not be infringed" it's pretty damned infringed.
When was she held in contempt by SCOTUS?She is not the head of the sheriffs. Nor the U.S. Attorney's Office. And she is currently in contempt of the US Supreme Court.
When was she held in contempt by SCOTUS?
I think he was just giving his opinion compared to it actually happening. When was she held in contempt by SCOTUS?
The second she signed the law that did exactly the opposite of the current Supreme Court ruling. When was she held in contempt by SCOTUS?
She's a dirty power hungry dickbag who just gave SCOTUS and NY gun owners a giant middle finger, we agree on that. Not the same as being officially held in contempt. The second she signed the law that did exactly the opposite of the current Supreme Court ruling.
The court just specifically and clearly addressed sensitive area overuse. After the fact she signed a law making 99% of the state sensitive areas outside of private homes.
What she signed is the exact definition of contempt.
Here is the interview in question:Hasn't the S.C. already ruled a State cannot ban a complete class of arms?
Hochul doesn’t need that information."“We find that permit holders are convicted of misdemeanors and felonies at less than a sixth the rate for police officers,” the report says. “Among police, firearms violations occur at a rate of 16.5 per 100,000 officers. Among permit holders in Florida and Texas, the rate is only 2.4 per 100,000.10. That is just one-seventh of the rate for police officers.”"
Report Finds These Gun Owners Are Least Likely Criminals
They have nothing to hide...literally.nationalinterest.org
Officially no but clearly is.She's a dirty power hungry dickbag who just gave SCOTUS and NY gun owners a giant middle finger, we agree on that. Not the same as being officially held in contempt.
Sure. I did mention auto exception and search warrant right? Probable cause might not be that hard to establish as you think. There is that pesky little thing of "Probable Cause" and it's pretty strongly defined when it comes to vehicles and traffic stops.
They have powers to do other things like declare constitutional carry is legal. Overturn any convictions etcSince the ability of the Supreme Court to strike down laws is not in the Constitution (Marbury v. Madison) I have no idea if it has the statutory ability to enforce its rulings. That corrupt POS in 'Justice' (ha ha) certainly would not.
When I was a kid, a Trooper used loud exhaust as probable cause to search my car. Went so far as to pop the rear seal out and leave it on the sidewalk along with anything else I had in the car. Asked him if he was going to put everything back seems he did this for no reason.... nope, not my problem.Sure. I did mention auto exception and search warrant right? Probable cause might not be that hard to establish as you think.
And if they do seize the box, to get a search warrant, and it’s denied, you still have to go pick it up
