Have is the ability to legally be able to have it. Not carry it. You can have it and possess it to transport it. That’s why there is a separate distinction. Premises permits say to have and possess. F says to have and carry. The carry part wasn’t put on a premises permit for a reason. Possess and carry are two separate words with two separate meanings.

Security guards do with the exact same license. Many other places too. Even out in public places doing protection of others as the company I will work for does. The license for carry is all the same (F). There is zero difference in the penal law between them and anyone else with (F). If you know of some secret law written in invisible ink please share it with us here.

It isn’t enforced because it’s stupid for a uniformed guard to carry concealed. That’s why they carry openly. Same as us to carry concealed when hunting or at the range. It just wouldn’t make sense to.

We won't OC in a supermarket, but not because we are worried about PL265 or PL400.
The fact that you can't find a single example of such a prosecution in over 100 years of that law's existence is proof that nobody needs to worry about it.
“Selective enforcement” - a very valid and used legal defense. “It’s not enforced for them but it is for me” isn’t gonna fly in court. What’s right for one is right for all.

Wanted to piggy back on this thread and get your opinions on this. I am going to make a trip down to Tennessee when the GlockStore opens soon. They are building quite a facility and state of the art range They are also now a Sig dealer too.
Tennessee has two types of permits. There is a basic concealed carry permit that allows for concealed carry only, and there is an enhanced pistol permit that allows open and concealed carry.
They honor every state’s permit and it functions there just as it would in your state. So if you are restricted to conceal carry only you also carry that restriction there. If you can carry openly on your permit you may do so as well in Tennessee.
Would your NY permit pass as open carry as it is not specifically illegal in NY but more frowned upon?
I couldn’t see a cop down there trying to research NY law in order to give you a hard time over it.
My ace in the hole is my PA license I guess but I am curious for thoughts on this.
By the way this is what every state’s permit system should be like if we can’t get a nationwide bill passed. Good for Tennessee.

Just conceal it like you do here in NY everyday without issue. You don’t need to show off over there. Hell the majority of the residents of Tennessee conceal compared to carrying openly.

Really hundreds huh? Wow pretty impressive, last lawyer I talked to charged $100 an hour. Pretty sure I could ask them if I was covered in less than an hour.

Tennessee doesn’t know anything about a NY license. They said whatever my license is for they honor it just the same down there. The question was about the N.Y. license for this forum. You suggesting I need a lawyer instead of getting advice here holds no water as I can can carry any way I want with a PA license which I stated I also possess. Let’s get back on topic here.
Also I had this brought to my attention by someone else. Look at NY 400 2 E. It is the license for prison guards, jail wardens, corrections officers etc etc. The wording for that license is exactly as it is for ours. Have And Carry Concealed. Yet they don’t only and exclusively carry concealed. They carry openly also. This adds more evidence that it is not illegal for us to OC in NY.
