My last 2 pistols have been ~2 weeks in OC. Ever since they shifted around some things at the pistol office (they have more people working now) my amendments have been coming faster. I've been really happy w/ the time, lately.

Thanks. I was so happy to get my blue cards and rushed right up there to pick it up. It was like a kick in the nuts when they said it was held up. In order to deal with the depression it caused I did the only thing I could do that would help. I bought another gun. Permit amendment paperwork will go in the mail in the morning. BUAHAHAHAHA!!

Still waiting for the delay to be lifted or the 8 days to pass so they will release it to me. Really frustrating and I can't under why they don't do the NICS when you pay for it so that if there's a delay in the NICS it will likely be over by the tone you're blue cards come. I wonder what kind of delay the guy who buys out of the trunk of a car experiences?

That's bullshit.
Even though I have purchased 3 or 4 handguns over the years at Gander, they suck. They do have a pretty good selection, but their prices are not that great, getting help is a total joke, and getting your gun finally out the door is a daytrip.
I browse thru there pretty often just to see whats there, and buy ammo, because its close to home. However I find Thruway Sports has a great selection also, with better prices, and you don't have to take a number like your at a fucking deli counter, only to be helped by someone who doesn't have a clue.

Friends don't let friends buy guns at Gander.

Cosenza and Master Class in Monroe or Thruway in Walden will all get you the gun you want for a better price with less hassle than Gander.

It sucks that Lounsbury's is only open until 5. I've been meaning to stop there for a long time. I have one gun waiting for my blue card to arrive for it. Once it does and I'm going to try to get over to Lounsbury's while up there anyway.

Received latest blue cards. Mailed them in on the morning of December 15th, arrived January 11th. Hopefully the holidays were the reason for it taking nearly 4 weeks and its not the new norm. Judge Freehill signed it on January 3rd.

I stopped by Thruway in Walden today and spoke to the people there for a while. They were telling me that the Clerks office has been sending out the green purchase coupons with the county clerks signature instead of the judge's signature, and that they weren't releasing guns to customers because of this.

This state keeps getting more and more screwed up.

would be good to get same day amendments like Ulster, they may have to go in that direction since they can't handle the current volume

It's at 630 to 830 on Wednesday. Other counties allow the clerks to sign off. I don't see why it can't be done here. Hell, hand out a voucher like other counties do and we can return in a timely fashion after we bought our gun and brought it home. We already go through an extensive background check, what's the big deal?

Ridiculous. It sounds like some of the workload for this recertification BS is falling on the county clerk's office pistol unit employees. I was at the informational meeting that the OCSO put on tonight and Sheriff DuBois said he actually put 3 part time investigators from his office to work in the clerk's office to help them out. I'm going to send in an amendment request tomorrow, I'll see how it goes. I'm guessing it won't go well.
