They didnt have my pistol in stock.. Said they would have it in on friday.. I am working in Maine on friday so no chance of getting to the clerks office.. So Monday it is..
Is Judge DeRosa still signing amendments? He signed off on my permit but hasn't signed an amendment of mine in about a year.

Ive put in probably 7 amendments in the last 12 months.. and every single one was signed off by him.. usually in pretty short order too..
I'm in town of wallkill.. Perhaps they moved his district and you arent in it anymore?

Maybe they moved his district or something, he was signing off on all mine but now Judge Brown is.

I stand corrected. It took Judge Freehill until March 31st to sign it so it took a long time all the way around. I'm probably going to pick up this gun tomorrow evening and while I'm there I might take advantage of the rebate Smith and Wesson has on the Shield right now rather than dump any money into my LC9 trying to improve it.

The shield Rebate is great... I bought a Shield .45... after tax and rebate it is less than $270.00 out the door..

Today makes 4 weeks and counting. One of the local gun shops told me he has people who have been waiting 8 weeks. 
Last week the clerk's office told me four weeks. The shop that's handling my transfer told me six weeks. We'll see.

Haven't heard of a 3-4 week wait since January. Funny how they told me 5-6 week wait only last week from the same office.

They're making shit up as they go along.
The county exec. is trying to make a name for himself by cutting expenditures. They offered 2 retirement incentives over the past 2 years and have not yet (and might never) filled all the vacancies. On top of that, there are a bunch of newer people on staff who are still learning the county's antiquated way of operating. The end result is that county services are suffering, but Mr. Nuhause has more money floating around to buy votes with - its not like he's using the savings to cut taxes. This is county wide, not just in the clerk's office.
I've also been told that there is a pissing contest going on between the judges and the clerk's office because the County Clerk had sent amendments out with her name stamped on them instead of the judges' names and the judges felt slighted by this and are dragging their feet on permits to give the clerk a hard time. I haven't been able to confirm that yet though.

Fuck.. This is stupid.. 1... We already passed a background check for our permits... 2... We pass another background check when we pick up our handguns... 3... We shouldnt need the courts permissions to own a pistol anyway...
I was going to post the link but you beat me to it. Hopefully the shit hits the fan over there and good job to Undersheriff Ken Jones who who said that the long wait time could be looked at as a denial of property rights. Maybe this will light a fire and get things back on track.
