If you go on the SP website and look through the press releases for Troop F, Almost the only ones being held on bail, are for gun "crimes". Drugs? No problem - free to go. Assault? Come back in two weeks. Child porn? We trust you to be good until you come back to court. Get caught with a stolen vehicle, with drugs and kids in it? Live out of state? No problem, just promise us you'll come back in two weeks.

That's what I was thinking, other than the extended mag.
Press release (propaganda report) Includes:
- Date
- Time
- Car Occupants names
- Car Occupants home towns
- Make, model, and caliber of gun
- Brand of magazine (because that's important for the public to know)
- # of rounds
- Where they were transported in order to be processed and charged.
- All the details of the charges.
- The court they were processed at.
- Jail they were sent to.
- Bail or bond amount.
- Date, time and court they need to appear at.
Granted these guys probably are not upstanding citizens but who knows.
In my opinion which I know means nothing but call it what it is, you profiled them and violate their 4th Amendment rights. Then issued a press release about how you took a bad 9 mm handgun of the streets.
It's pretty common to ask if there's anything in the vehicle that shouldn't be. The next logical question is "mind if I take a look?" If you're dumb enough to say ok this is what you get.

And if you say no, they bring in a K9, say the dog alerted and search anyway. If they don't find anything, you get the "could have been something in there at some point, and the dog alerted to that". I believe that most traffic stop alerts with K9 are fraudulent, but they are used so you, who are not a trained dog handler, cannot contest the search. The dog alerted and that's that......
Best bet if you are involved in illegal foolishness, don't drive around like you are untouchable.

It probably would have been one arrested, no occupant was willing to take ownership of the gun.

I don't know, I thought I did okay. I detailed all of the info in the press release. Seems like they detailed a lot of info but breezed right over their justification for the stop and search. If they have a reason not to report those details so be it. I don't know their job and the guidelines they work under. I Just think it's strange that someone would issue a press release that gives so much detail about things like the gun, caliber, magazine brand, round count, court date and time. Why give a court date and not what the traffic violation they were pulled over for.
I think profiling is a must in LE. But illegal search and seizure is bad news.

Never suggest that I was. I don't need to know their court date but they told me that. Just think it's strange how much they share and what they skip in a press release. The NYSP press department shared a lot of info that was fluff.
"Troopers discovered a loaded Hi-Point, Model C9, 9mm Luger handgun in the vehicle along with 1 Pro-Mag extended magazine and five 9mm Luger rounds" Press release could of just said "Loaded Handgun". Court documents could use all that info but why the press release.
What if it was really a C9 YEET CANNON G1 9MM and the ammo originally came out of a box that said 9mm Parabellum. Good lord I hope the cops got all these details right or FUAC will put them right back on the street with voter registration forms already filled out
