The way it's built it would be easy to change calibers. They might have some future plans in mind. When will Ruger come out with this carbine in .40 S&W?

If the engineers planned ahead, they could have the chamber sized to just swap barrels and magazine and away it goes Wishful thinking maybe. The way it's built it would be easy to change calibers. They might have some future plans in mind.
Around 12 months from the initial release I'd reckon. Who is gonna make the .357 SIG conversion kit is what I wann know. When will Ruger come out with this carbine in .40 S&W?

I just mounted a cheap one I picked up at a Gun show! Have yet to sight it in as when I go to the Club other members are working on renovating the Club House and I try to help some!
How is the cheek weld on that? Do you use it for IDPA - PCC class?I put a True Glow that was on sale from $79.00 to $59.00 plus a $20.00 scorecard from Dicks. I did screw up and threw out the package with the Bar code for a $20.00 rebate from True Glow my final cost would have been $19.00! I also do have a cheap Center Point 2-7 x 30 scope that I may swap from time to time.

It comes with regular ol' sling swivels so any standard sling would work. A GI web sling would be a good match I think. I'm not sure how a sling could be side mounted cavalry style though. There are any number of companies that offer a stirrup style sling attachment for the rear but I'm not sure what could be done for the front. I prefer to sling up cavalry style for any gun with a substantially protruding magazine.Anyone find a sling option for this yet?
Did some testing yesterday. Having an IDPA background, I fired 5 "at speed" doubles and got all 10 on a 10" paper plate at 25 ft...surprise! I say "suprise" because I'm not at all good with ghost ring sights. I just placed the circle on the plate and shot that way; hard to see the post with older eyes.
That encouraged me, so I backed off to 75 ft. in a growing sprinkle. This time I had to wait for the muzzle to settle before releasing the second shot and that's to be expected. I fired, waited for the circle to settle, fired and repeat...in quick fashion. Amazingly, I got 9 on the plate in a 2" wide vertical pattern that started just below center of the plate, to the top of the plate; about 6" high...and I've got the soggy paper plate to prove it.
So now I'm realizing that this gun could be effective in competition as it comes out of the box. And what fun! Ruger has a winner here and I'm glad I got one. (I mounted up a Vortex Venom today.)
Actually here:
RSA® - Rail Sling Attachment
RSA® QD - Rail Sling Attachment QD
Viking Tactics Buttstock Adapter
There, that should allow for any type of sling you could want. BFG makes it easy with their custom sling builder though and I really like the Vickers sling besides.
Yeah, its fuuny I was briefly stumped as to how to mount something more than a standard sling but then I remembered the little pic rail section and that opened everything right up! Though you lose the ability to mount anything else there. I'm willing to bet somone offers a light mount with an integrated sling attachment though. A side mounted, quick adjust 2 point sling is really the way to go though, if you don't mind spending the extra money over a cheapie standard 2 point sling.I just got a few of those QD swivels they are really sweet!!

You don't need a pic rail on the bottom, you want to mount it on the side. There is a sling stud in the bottom of the stock already you can use.I will have to look at the bottom of the stock tomorrow, But you may be able to add a pic-rail there?
Its a Ruger so I'm assuming the extra weight is from a cast receiver, as opposed to forged? A cast part must be bulkier than a forged one to achieve the same strength. The barrel profile looks pretty beefy too, even with the flutes.Where is all the weight on this rifle? Only thing holding me back is the 6.8 lb weight. I'd have bought a couple already if it was around 5 lbs instead.
I handled one last week and my reaction was kinda the same but different. I found the weight of it a little incongruous for what should be a handy little carbine. I'm still getting one, its not a boat anchor or anything.I hefted one a couple months ago and it felt good to me, a nice solid feel to it and frankly I was surprised, I expected it to have a light cheap feel.

There are some guns that you expect to be heavy. A precision bench gun, a large caliber magnum revolver........... or a semi auto 308*cough*. But a PCC I expect to be pretty light. I don't really like the Just Right Carbines because they are so damn heavy for what they are, even if tbey are a quality firearm. Now like I say the Ruger isn't excessively heavy, its borderline. The Berreta CX4 Storm meanwhile, is quite light and very handy but still solid feeling. The Sub 2000 is even lighter, but has its own issues. I will say though that for whatever its faults may be when I heft a Sub 2000 the combination of its lack of weight combined with its paradoxical feeling of solidity is very appealing. If they actually ran reliably and didn't, apparently, blow up I'd have bought one long ago.I guess I'm used to heavier guns, I do have a Ruger Mini and the only thing I don't like about it it that its too light. I like to shoot off hand and having a bit of weight keeps me from weaving around.
