Ruger Carbine Takedown !

What do you guys recommend for a red dot scope? Preferably, something with a lower profile. I don’t want the scope to be more money than the rifle but I don’t want buy junk either.

Vortex sparc or sparc 2 is a good quality red dot for about $200. Trijicon MRO would be my next choice for $370-399.

Took mine to the range today. Ruger hit a home run with this one. I put a few hundred down the pipe. Everything from 115-147 grain. Fmj, hp, extreme penetrator and buffalo bore outdoorsman. It was perfect and more accurate than I expected. Nice to throw it in a small bag and not have people know your carrying a carbine.

So I imagine that if an optic were placed on this gun most of us would choose a red dot. But what about a scope? What lightweight, compact scopes would be appropriate for the Ruger? Not talking about some monstrous 60x @dsdmmat special here, nor an uber tactical Schmidt & Bender thing with all the crazy reticles and a compass in the body and this thing what tells time.
Just a simple, plain reticle in a package that is small and light.

Actually I think I just answered my own question:

Primary Arms 2.5X Compact AR15 Scope with Patented CQB ACSS Reticle PAC2.5X

They offer a bdc reticle regulated for 9mm, neat.

Not talking about some monstrous 60x @dsdmmat special here, nor an uber tactical Schmidt & Bender thing with all the crazy reticles and a compass in the body and this thing what tells time.

You've become scope obsessed like @SteyrAug . It's a 9mm carbine with a max of about 200 yards and that's pushing it. At that distance it's velocity is that of a. 380 with more than a 20 inch drop.

Why would you want to put a 8 to 12 inch tube on a carbine that's supposed to be a handy CQB weapon?

It isn't going to hold tight groups at distance anyway.

I put a True Glow that was on sale from $79.00 to $59.00 plus a $20.00 scorecard from Dicks. I did screw up and threw out the package with the Bar code for a $20.00 rebate from True Glow my final cost would have been $19.00! I also do have a cheap Center Point 2-7 x 30 scope that I may swap from time to time.

I would look at Leupold fixed power scopes at 50 yards you are not going to need much magnification maybe 6x max. You are talking anywhere from 200- 300 bucks for something like that. Weaver also makes a fixed scope dual x reticle and 6X38 K classic series.

I haven't purchased the rifle yet but I did pick up a Vortex Spitfire 1x Prism scope (on sale for $150 back in January) to go onto the gun I plan to get... eventually.. I considered getting the 3x but decided on the 1x. Don't plan on shooting it past 100 yards as I can't see that far anyway.

I think you might be overlooking a whole different option / route.
