If I had to guess, judging by the line of questioning during oral arguments, this would very much so affect NYC. Thursday is the hope!

I would love for the ruling to cripple New York State's anti-gun laws, but I'm also not going to be overly optimistic.

I feel the same way. I'd also like the NFA tossed, but that's another topic entirely.

Fuck the NFA/GCA/ATF/4473 all of it.

But I'd even settle for starters, shooting down states (all of them) bans on NFA items..

IE even some free states ban just SBS but SBR and cans and machine guns are ok..

Or SBR and SBS and machine guns are all good but ban suppressors.

And then there is NY and such.

That would be an awesome start.. then work on getting rid of it all together

It might be wishful thinking but I would love for their ruling to make it so that a New York state permit is valid in New York City. At the very least I can see them making it so that New York State residents can apply and get a New York City pistol permit, but I really don't want to go through the expense of that since it costs about $400 initially and then 300 every three years to renew.

Unfortunately I work in the city, and typically in bad areas so I would love the ability to be able to legally carry while at work.

This was part of the oral argument stated by the attorney representing NYS in SCOTUS. Although I can't remember which justice responded, I recall it being on of the highlights during it. In short the justice basically said thier reasoning for limitations in public places was entirely flawed and backwards. Paraphrasing for brevity, the NYS attorney stated that the need for a firearm in a public place is lower than in a rural one. The justices response was classic, again paraphrasing, " How many muggings happen in the woods? ".

June 30th, and not before. I submitted my Warren County application on March 7th. I suspect the SC will issue their opinion before I have my permit. I doubt it will change anything for me at that point, as our judge supports unrestricted carry. I don’t know how many permits have been issued without restrictions since he took the bench a little over a year ago, though. The SC won’t make a peep on Bruen til June 30th. Take that to the bank.

They way I look at it, the SCOTUS decision should minimally ease up on folks that already have restricted permits if anything; meaning drop in restrictions.

Then there are the gray areas like, for example requiring training or like some have stated, restricting locations (bowling alleys, stores, banks, etc).

Best case scenario we turn into a constitutional carry state (yeah right.......). You know... Shall Not Be Infringed!

Realistically, I'm heading for the top two of my opinions...

Same happened to me 3 times.

And if we get a favorable ruling I wonder if everyone with restricted will be upgraded automatically to unrestricted or if they will still have to file an amendment and wait a year. Im sure NY will make it painful and long regardless.

I also submitted my application on September 24th of last year. The clerks website states 9-16 months. References were contacted nearly 3 weeks ago. At 9 months I will be right there in June. An interesting coincidence that's crossed my mind several times since, wondering if it may have an impact as I (wrongfully) wrote, in part, for self defense, hence my personal interest in the case.

I feel everyone's pain. I was at a point where I was going to apply for a permit. Gathered all paperwork, and had a pistol picked out for a DP.
Then CONvid set in and offices shut down. At that point, I decided I was not going to ask for a permission slip

Personally, I'd wait. You don't have anything to lose, no more than where you are already at. Unless you need that gun in a life or death situation... which you can then thank our current laws.

I know of a few folks that really want unrestricted, and I told them to wait until the decision has been made. Two of which are in Oneida, which you need to pay $200, do a graded live fire session with only one of two appointed instructors, only after you meet the judge's requirements for unrestricted. I told them both to save their $200 and wait.
