Ive seen a similar price for the standard pcr, but im looking atvthe newer, 2020 model whichbis called ENHANCED. Its supposed to be out in mid april but im betting that will be delayed due to the virus. But, i have found the enhanced listed for around 1250, but the sites list it as out of stock.

Kinda, unless a screaming deal popped up on either the bergara ridgeback, or a good used eifle on snipershide pops up. I like the seekins and the badrock, but not sure i want to part with that much just yet.

Just moved into a new, bigger place. Need all money for new/additional furniture and appliances.
Biggest expense will be a new washer and dryer.
However I would like to get a Bergara barreled action and drop it into a GRS stock-
Someday, not for a while and certainly not until the gun/ammo buying panic subsides.

What are your thoughts on barrel length? Unless i find a screaming deal on a semi custom rifle im pretty much set on the rem 700 with 5r barrel. As i said, Ive been waiting for the new pcr enhanced to come out, but i get tempted with the 20" barrel on the magpul enhanced model. The pcr has 24", and obviously velocity will be better with a longer barrel, but i do like short barrels. The only thing is i know id want a chassis so my cost would go up.

I believe you should wait for the enhanced pcr tbh. You want a chassis, Anything less you might not be happy with or look to upgrade later. I prefer long barrel for a range rifle but if u “might” take it out hunting then you might want to compromise. I have hunted with 26” barrels and it’s a pita where I hunt. Now my hunting/range rifle is 20”. Unless u have a long shooting range, the long barrel might be a waste. Unless i get out west i wouldnt hunt with this rifle, its gonna be a range gun. I can safely shoot out to 800 or so on private property, and the sheepdog range is 5 minutes from where i shoot and that goes out to 1k. Ill wait, i need to anyway to sell my 9mm first.

I knew little about 5r rifling so I did a little research on it. What i have read on other forum is some think it’s a gimmick to sell rifles, you won’t notice a difference between 5r and conventional rifling and a few think it’s worth it but the improvement is small but u need to take it for what it is....internet talk. I don’t own anything with 5r rifling, I’m not pro or con on 5r rifling.

I think what would have me worried is finding the enhanced with how things r now. But you have time if u r going to wait to sell the 9mm

Yeah, before this all happened Rem said mid april, i expect it will be at least a month later if they get back this week.
My next thing is what kind of DBM could i install on my 308 with hs precision stock.

I’m not 100% on dbm, but I think the stock would need to be opened up to fit one. Benefit of a blind mag is it’s cheaper and you don’t have to worry about losing the magazine. Mags can get expensive

My opinion is to go with the seekins. It's an already improved 700 action with a timney 510 and everything from them is top notch. Pair that with a vortex pst gen2 and you're set. (Yes, I'm a vortex Fanboy.

Just came to update this thread and saw you asked about it a couple months back. Got notified that the pcr enhanced was finally in stock last week so i ordered it. The ffl i chose was a little slow in getting me a copy of his paperwork, but the rifle should ship this week.

what do you want to do with the gun?
If you are going to punch paper why not something more versatile, cost effective and accurate than the 6.5?
If one is going to burn that much powder I would pickup something more versatile that can do more things including
superior ballistics.
The gun is easy, there is nothing a good savage or bergara cannot do unless you want to put the money down for
a custom builder. There are some good ones around the finger lakes.

The cold chassis looks good at first instance but you will be surprised how many people are better with a warm chassis that has some
soft material around the aluminum chassis. there is literally zero benefit from the pistol grip and all other tacticool stuff other than some
molecularity but you are going to custom fit the gun anyway so, it is more a fashion thing IMO.
The way the warm chassis transmits harmonics and general vibration is something a lot of people discard right off the bet w/o
even thinking about it just because of the fashion pressures.
Or maybe you already thought about it and that is cool but I am sure the gun is going to be dedicated anyway.
The above gun looks like an aluminum (not integral) scope base that judging by the picture bridges into the tube.
That is a big No-No in the directives. It should be steel alloy ideally integral and never bridge into the hand-guards.
Also it seems the distance between the palm and the trigger is pretty short w/o a good rest for the index finger that
is another No-go.
At least it has a comb raiser but it doesn't look that substantial to be the best it can be.
I am not convinced.
Bergara is teh best value right now and you can slap any of them into a number of stocks and shoot like crazy.
Stay away from any Remington R5 or not. Quality has gone down a lot.
The bergara has features and materials found in actions that cost x3 times more.
Even the extractor is a step forward vs. the badger or sako style.

Ive read good things about the pcr line of rifles, i wanted a chassis for something different, and the price was right at 1200. Primarily Ill be punching paper, but I intend to take some long range classes and maybe some prs matches. I have a 308 and 223 already so i wanted the 6.5cm. I dont reload yet so readily available factory ammo was a part of the decision process as well. Ill see how she feels and make adjustments as needed. If i dont care for the chassis then ill throw it on the 308 and pick up a manners for the 6.5. The 308 sits in an hs precision which is... ok... but id prefer a manners t2a, or a
McMillan a6 prs.
I looked at the bergaras, but they dont make barrels any heavier than medium palma and i wanted something heavier. I know you know the long range game well and I appreciate your input.

Copy that, and I did do ALOT of home work. I know rem has a spotty record as of late, but not so much with the 5r barreled rifles. I ordered an Arken Optics EP4 EP-4
They are a new company but its done very good under testing. Was going to go with the bushnell dmr ii, but this was 400 cheaper so i wanted to give it a try.
