That's the point.Doubt it. They would have been seen as a threat to officers.
If you're not going in because it's too dangerous, we'll make staying out here more dangerous.

Waiting for keys, unable to break down doors: Uvalde schools police chief defends delay in confronting gunman
Criticized by law enforcement experts for slowness in taking out the shooter, Pete Arredondo described an agonizing wait for a key that would work. In an interview with The Texas Tribune, he said he hadn’t spoken out sooner because he didn’t want to compound his hometown’s grief or point blame.www.texastribune.org
Janitor didn't have keys? Front office didn't have keys? Maglock couldn't be opened by the office? Open door not notified at control panel?
Fire department/ cops didn't have key to the lock box for the master key inset in the brick by the front door?
I guarantee every parent there could have gotten in the door in 30 seconds if they were allowed near it.Janitor didn't have keys? Front office didn't have keys? Maglock couldn't be opened by the office? Open door not notified at control panel?

So being shot at would certainly change things a bit but I’m sure a couple decent firefighters with a set of irons (flat head axe and a halligan bar) could force that door. Or even go through the lock. Or many depts carry a rabbit tool which is a like a porta power for forcing doors. I’d like to see a good picture of the door. Guessing a heavy wood or metal door in a steel frame in a cinder block wall. Tougher door to force but not impossible. Might be able to pull the lock cylinder or punch it through and manipulate the lock with a screwdriver.Every swat team in American has hooligan tools. Also I bet they have an up armored vehicle. There are plenty of ways to breach that door.
And if swat didn't, I bet the fire department could have.

Probably an inward swinging door so you wouldn’t see the hinges but you can attack a door on the hinge side. I think through the lock or forcing with irons would have been the answer assuming you weren’t being shot at.do not just focus on the door knob and lock ... take a look at the damn hinges too . pew pew pew .. 3 hinges disabled
I would imagine trying to open a steel framed door with a halligan tool while being shot at would be an aweful tough go. Which is also why I still can't grasp why they didn't have teams regroup and go to windows.Probably an inward swinging door so you wouldn’t see the hinges but you can attack a door on the hinge side. Even if you just stand in the hall and poke the door with a stick to get him to shoot at it.I would imagine trying to open a steel framed door with a halligan tool while being shot at would be an aweful tough go. So, who gave the stand down order and why?Uvalde Police Were in School Hallway with Rifles and Ballistic Shield Within Ten Minutes: Report
A report by the Austin American-Statesman shows Uvalde police were in the hallway of Robb Elementary School with rifles and at least one ballistic shield within ten minutes of the start of the mass shooting by Salvador Ramos that killed 19 children and two teachers on May 24 in the small Texas town. Ramos was reportedly killed in a gun battle with police after an hour-plus wait by police to storm the classroom he was holed up in.
The story was broken Monday afternoon by reporter Tony Plohetski, “BREAKING: Multiple officers were inside Robb Elementary School with rifles and at least one ballistic shield at 11:52 a.m. the day of the shooting, new video and other evidence shows. They didn’t enter the classroom for another 58 minutes. More soon via @statesman and @KVUE. 1/2…Investigators believe this is significant because it indicates they had more than enough firepower and protection to enter the classroom before they did. Officers were growing impatient far sooner: “If there’s kids in there we need to go in there,” one said on body camera video.”
