I used to be a staunch atheist. Certain events in my life have made it clear that some one is pulling strings for me up there. To what purpose I've no clue. Messes with my head it does. I'm not quite as cavalier as I let on, but as a trucker I have special considerations. In a major disaster unless I'm at the epicenter, short term I'm okay. I have at least a weeks worth of food and water with me, basic medical supplies, ample clothing. I also have mobile shelter with electricity, heat and AC. For how long depends on how full the tanks are I guess. If full I've enough juice for days. A complication is the carrying of arms in the truck is problematic at best, so I can't include them in any scenario one might have.......... for now.

I am aware of the difference between an agnostic and an atheist. I won't bore you with the story, but if I did, and you believed me, you might be swayed. I am not an evangelist however. But I do firmly belive that whatever situation I find myself in that by divine intevention, wit, fortitude or just dumb luck I'll find my way through, always have. And if not, well, everybodys gotta die sometime.

One to two days. At that point, unless there was communication from The Powers That Be that the situation was being worked on, I think people would start to panic.

The whole deal with the rationed medication is a 100% communist idea.
If one has the intelligence to prepare for trouble how the laws can prevent you for having additional medications that might save your life?

For controlled substances (usually for anxiety, pain, ADHD) the law limits how early you can fill a prescription. And SURPRISE! There is a state-wide (maybe multiple states? not sure) system called 'I-STOP' which allows a pharmacist to see when and where you last filled a controlled substance. My store is a little lenient and allows 2 days early.. some stores hold you right to the day. I don't agree with it, but I'm not in charge.

For other medications (blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, etc) you can usually fill 5-7 days early on insurance. If your insurance does mail order you can usually get a 90 day supply and can order 14 days or more early.

My wife calls me paranoid. I believe the less people know what your capable of, the less you have to worry about. There are many eyes and ears open to what is being said on the net. Ones preparedness is a well kept secret. Just be prepared to what level your budget or spouse allows. Thank god mine is very agreeable.

If you survive the blast and can seek shelter from the fallout you have a chance to survive.

If you have a basement you can make a quick impromptu shelter. Pick a corner ( I think if possible the upwind corner works best) and on the floor above that area of the basement stack up heavy thick dense things. Kitchen table, books, appliances etc... The more mass you have the more gamma radiation will be blocked from reaching the basement. In the basement try to find a desk or something and do the same thing hide under that in the corner and stack stuff on top

They are the same strength and quality as FDA approved ones but are cheaper and able to be bought without a prescription.

They do work, but should only be taken as a prescription would be given. Usually a 10 to 14 day course.

Anyone got any recommendations for a decent NBC mask ?? With threat of nuclear war higher then ever might be handy to have on hand. I know the Israel ones look pretty decent for the price.
