Springfield Hellcat, M&P Subcompact, Canik TP9. Elite SC, P365 SAS

So, with the recent announcement of the Springfield Hellcat, M&P Subcompacts, Canik’s TP9 Elite SC, and the P365 SAS, what are you excited for?

For me it’s the Canik TP9 Elite SC because I like my TP9SFx and TP9SF Elite.

I’d be curious to fondle the hellcat. Those grips look wacky.
I like the M&P except for the trigger so the new 2.0 might be nice.
That cantik looks very interesting as well but 1.4” wide seems to be pretty fat compared to other guns with this capacity now a days.
I really liked the feel of the original 365 but hav held off with the past issues. Seems I should wait a bit longer to see what new comes out before deciding.

the 1.4” width is easy for me to conceal and not much different if you put an optic on any of these. If anything the extra mass will help recoil in such a compact gun.

I’m not really interested in an optic on a self defense pistol at this point. If my eyes get much worse maybe. Can’t fucking see too good anymore. Damn old age.

Ive gained a few pounds and I need to lose it and maybe the 1.4” won’t be an issue. I guess my thought is with the option now in the 10-13 round range with 1” slide width I don’t need to consider guns with 1.4” slide widths anymore.

I am also interested in the P365 SAS. It has been a while since SIG gave the SAS treatment to a model. I used to carry a P239 SAS when I lived in Texas.

I think for me it’s my astigmatism and I injured my back a while ago and I caused eye muscle spasms from a tense muscle in my back and neck. Ive actually switched from being right eye dominant to left eye dominant because of this. My eyes(as in the 20/20 thing) aren’t that bad everything is just blurry. I can’t even read license plates anymore and now I think I need bifocals. I’m only 39.


I fixed something in my basement last night and whipped up 3 60lbs bags of concrete and man you’d have thought I’d have poured an entire driveway. That was tough work.

The P365 SAS has some nice refinements.
Sig Anti Snag is just the company's term for their in house carry melt treatment, everything rounded and de-horned for comfort and draw speed. And I think the countersunk Mepro FT Bullseye sight is novel and it certainly serves to further reduce snag points that would be present with traditional sights.
My P239 SAS was a wonderful carry piece, I miss it.

Seems for many years, everything is just the same. A gun manufacturer changes a couple of little things here and there; nothing major, but the slap a different name on the gun and presto, "look at this new gun". Nothing new about it.

Glock changes a spring and BAM, new gun.

A different hand guard, wow, new AR!

What do I want? I am not sure, if I knew what innovation would work, I would be in that business.

What is really annoying within the gun community? People that are happy with the same thing every new gun they buy. What is annoying? Gun owners not wanting more...

Here's the thing, we have gotten to the point where we know what works and works best, anything else will expensive and inefficient and or unreliable... pretty much everything has been tried and the bad ideas are well tossed out because they are useless..
