My Flatline Fiber Co. sling, HRF ECS1, HRF RCM, Ape Defense Goblin 3.0, and some more slaps. The ECS1 is a nice upgrade for my 13.7” and it’s Vortex Razor HD Gen III 1-10x. It definitely allows for much easier dialing up and down on the magnification with a bigger purchase. The RCM went on my 11.5” and is pretty freakin’ sweet.

Figured I’d check out what these Shot Stop Duritium GT2 Lvl III+ plates are all about. They’re definitely way lighter than RMA 1155’s. Though it’s comparing III+ and IV but based solely on weight, it’s like night and day. Though I’m not bashing the 1155’s because they serve a purpose and are probably the nicest budget friendly IV’s on the market, they’re just a little hefty. I purchased my 1155’s years ago before they were ever offered in a multi-curve option. But they’re still lighter than most comparable 10”x12” steel plates with their gimmicky build-up coatings.

Normally I’d say grab two SAPI plates for front and back but I figured I’d see how Shot Stop’s Shooter’s Cut was since there is no “Shooter’s Cut” size standard and kinda wanted to setup the carrier for higher mobility, so I have a Shooter’s Cut for the front and a SAPI plate for the rear. I’ll include a pic of the Shooter’s Cut sitting on top of the SAPI for a size comparison.

When it comes to comparing weight between the 1155’s and the GT2’s. There is always a margin for +/- in weight differences even when manufacturing two of the exact plates, which is what happened with my 1155’s. Both are the exact same 1155 model 10”x12” SAPI’s and one comes in at 8.4lb and my second comes in at 8.2lb.

Now weighing my GT2’s, my 10”x12” SAPI comes in at 3.6lb and my Shooter’s Cut 10”x12” comes in at 3.4lb. Combining the weight of both is exactly 7lb…which is 1.2lb lighter then my one lightest 1155, and 1.4lb lighter than my heaviest 1155. Comparing total weights, I’m looking at 7lb for the GT2’s instead of 16.6lb for my 1155’s.

Not only is weight the biggest difference between these two different plates (1155 and GT2) but the thickness of the plates is much different as well. My 1155’s come in at 1” thick where my GT2’s come in at .6” (from spec sheet not from physically measuring them in person).

After comparing weights and checking them out a bit I finally threw them in my Defense Mechanisms MEPC. They are extremely light compared to the 1155’s and are much more enjoyable to wear and absolutely increase mobility, especially due to the fact that they are multi-curve and conform to my body better.

........nice...nice. BTW, I have been researching red dots that fit the Shiled's PMS foot print that don't suck. Seems that the Holosun 407/507 K series are the only ones that don't suck. Fortunately The Holosuns seem pretty awesome.
I am considering picking up a 4" Performance Center model.
