Had a chance to go the range today and test out the metal MDT magazine vs the factory magazine. I can confidently say the MDT AICS pattern 10 round mags for the 308/6.5 Ruger American Gen 2 both fit, insert and feed better than the factory Ruger plastic AICS pattern magazines.

That’s because they took down your license plate, paid the fee to find out who you are and will break in to your house to steal your valuables in the same. Always makes me nervous to buy a safe second hand for this reason

Haha please, Paranoid much. It was an older guy who just moved to that area and upgraded to a much bigger safe . Besides, his location was out in the sticks and by the time that I got there it was dark as hell. The safe was on his front porch and my tailgate was down. Also I’m a talker, I tend to get a good feel for a person just by gabbing for a bit.

I took advantage of a couple of black Friday deals. I got an Orvis Clearwater large Arbor # 4-6 fly reel and a Moonshine Drifter II 5 wt, 9' rod. They are to "semi-replace" my 35 year-old fiberglass LL Bean/Scientific One combo. They will remain in my rotation as they have been responsible for countless catches.
I got to use a similar set up on Oak Creek in Sedona and really liked the feel, speed and castability. Sadly, the 6" of snow and subfreezing temps may have me starring at it for a few months. Besides, my wadding boots a woefully low on insulation.

I hate money. Or maybe just the thought of retirement. Or maybe I just have poor impulse control. I went to one of the local LGS's today to get a new sling because the one I had for my new Ruger American Gen II which I got earlier this year broke recently (really disappointed in that for what it's worth). When I walked in, there on the wall, like a vision from God himself, I saw it, the holy grail itself...
...A brand new Ruger made Marlin 1895 SBL. I nervously asked if I could handle it. The shopkeeper said yes. I maneuvered the lever and felt a shudder of electricity go through my body and knew, that despite the price tag, I had to have it. I consoled myself that it was Christmastime, I work hard, and as wise men have said "you can't take it with you." That's my rationalization and I'm sticking with it.
I also got it in 45-70 Govt in case cape buffalo become an invasive species in the Catskills. It's a very real possibility you know. I also heard that they're thinking about cloning T-Rex's from DNA inside mosquitos entombed in amber. These are all very practical things you need to prepare for.
