She’s already thought of them. Now this will embolden her to pass them and there’s nothing at all stopping her. No one except maybe the Supreme Court can stop her but she’s already shown she doesn’t fucking care what they say. I also have a sneaking feeling we will lose the USA senate and the Supreme Court will be packed. I guarantee you roe v wade will come back to haunt us and the Bruen section will soon be wrong and we will be back to the old standard. I’m almost certain the CCIA will stand on the end because they will pack the Supreme Court soon. Walker will lose in the run off and we will lose AZ and the senate will be 50/50 again. We are doomed and the Republican governors are the only ones that can save us and clearly that will never happen in NYS after what happened this week.

Would I? No, but it’s not illegal. I just had this talk with my dad and they used to get this call all the time when we had a gun store in my town. It’s legal, but not advisable.

So I shut up and held on... Not like I say too much, but you never know how people/government construe things.

the applicable licensing officer every five years following the issuance
of such license. Failure to renew such a license shall be a violation
punishable by a fine not to exceed two hundred fifty dollars, and such
failure to renew shall be considered by the licensing officer when
reviewing future license applications by the license holder pursuant to
this chapter.

After all, the whole "this doesn't apply above Westchester" was never in the Law. It was only word-of-mouth by a sleazeball lawyer for the State to try to get a lawsuit kicked out of court. (I forgot which lawsuit it was)

No doubt they follow all gun websites .It is well known Everytown has tens of millions of Dollars to throw into the fight against our rights.... Hundreds of lawyers...all working in tandem with state and national elected office holders to disarm all of us gun owners. ... All over this nation.
This effort is massive well beyond what we comprehend .

It's so funny how many strong opinions here get flipped every single week. It's nice to see the strong optimism, no matter how constantly it's being cut off like a house cats attention span. I think some need to be reminded where they live and the history and patterns of NYS's gun laws. You say the state doesn't care about following the courts opinions/rulings which should be all you need to know, but you complain when they continue to do it like it's unconstitutional or something. lol

My house cats can have a pretty long attention span, poor things, laser light drives them crazy for as long as someone will play.

I think many of us are just disgusted, we are good people who want to live like we are. The state wants to us to be felons. I don't have a lot of hope yet I can say it goes against my grain to turn tail and leave. Yet, being a realist, I think that may be the best solution, until it isn't.

I used to think I had some idea how the court system worked. This whole fiasco has proven I have no freakin' clue. Some day I will try to figure it out. Currently I am just tryng to stay in business and the time to keep up on fed and state is not doing my blood pressure any favors. I apologize to customers when they buy ammo cause I have to treat them like a felon. I HATE it. Here I thought covid was bad with the unlawful mandates, ugh.

I agree. I just want to largely be left alone. I want to live my life, love my wife and kids, do some hiking, kayaking, fishing, hunting and a bit of travel. I want to have the money to do that and not be taxed to death literally. I want to carry a concealed pistol for my protection and the protection of others around me while doing it and that’s really about it. This state seems to want to stop me from doing most of that either through laws or taxes.

No, under the FEDERAL Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990, it’s illegal in public within 1,000 feet of a school. Whether or not it’s an exception since it’s not an explicit carry permit, a semiauto permit does nothing if you don’t have one, which most owners don’t, and in any event then it wouldn’t apply to a shotgun or bolt-action .30-06 within 1,000 feet of a school.

Unless it’s overturned in court, it’s still illegal, not just in front of a school but nearly a fifth of a mile away. I expect many cops would be ignorant of this too since they have limited training in federal law and aren’t usually responsible for enforcing it. In practice the charges are usually referred by a DA when there’s related charges, rather than local police making a pure GFSZA arrest.

You started with this dangerously wrong blanket post that it’s still perfectly legal under the CCIA to have a gun on a sidewalk in front of a school; this is true for permitted concealed carry, but in the context of a thread also talking about driving through the Cornell campus, this is a dangerously wrong blanket statement. It’s been a federal felony for long guns since 1990 within 1,000 feet of a K-12 school.

I’m well aware of these issues; my late gramp was cautioned by police for driving through an arterial road on Cornell’s campus with a hunting shotgun on his rack decades ago and told he could be arrested. For those who don’t know Cornell has a sprawling open campus on Ithaca’s East Hill with encircling and traversing streets and roads that are on many routes between the towns of Ithaca/Lansing/Dryden/Caroline. It’s easy to unknowingly drive onto Cornell turf and avoiding it may require detours, nor does signage make it clear exactly where the campus starts and ends. The exact same type of traffic stop could lead to arrest on federal charges within 1,000 feet of a K-12 school since 1990; this is not well-known, even though there are people in federal prison for it.

I guess you missed the part where I said you can’t drive through Cornell with a gun as described and the OP clarified that fact after I said you can walk in front of a school with a gun while referring to the CCIA restrictions. CCIA doesn’t do anything for rifles as mentioned and I also stated that fact later in the thread. I addressed what I though was the OP saying you can’t walk with a CCW on a public sidewalk I. Front of a school and you can. He clarified later in the thread and so I responded accordingly after that and yes I agree with what you said above n

So reading this further suggests that they aren't going to enforce any of this because the minute they did their argument of no standing goes right out the window. Call their bluff. How many times are they going to say or suggest no enforcement before everyone just ignores them?

No. I like the folks and some of the posts on here... However, I didn't particularly care for how much "research" they did to track me down. Not like it's impossible, but they certainly spent some quality time on the research to find me. Then the gall to confront me about it. Kind of creeped me on out because I barely know who they are.

I even went back and searched through all my posts to see if there was anything I posted that could put me in jeopardy, and I didn't see a damn thing. But again, you don't know how others construe things and my luck, they would find a post or thread that would raise an eyebrow.

At the end of the day it was certainly an eye opener on the whole thing that thankfully got halted with the social media crap. Hopefully it stays that way.

From now on, I'm being extra cautious.

So if it’s an emergency how can they stand up in court and say they won’t enforce it? I hope the judge tells them how fucking stupid they are and sound. You can’t have it both ways. I’m seriously sick of their bullshit
