Heres the thing, the US recognizes Taiwan as part of China. the one China policy. Nobody recognizes Taiwan as an independent state, nor has Taiwan declared independence from China. Its not an invasion as much as an insurrection.

As much as I dont like the Chinese or the stuff they make, they have a legitimate point.

That being said , A blockade of Taiwan is a pretty good move for China . An actual invasion would be highly risky .

If China wants to 100% control Taiwan, this should not be up to our Soldiers to defend. In the past 100 years or so, the US has lost far too many Servicemen to wars that we should not have been in.

This possible war with China over Taiwan falls into this category.

The average us citizen has no idea what war with china will mean for them. Their idea of war is fighting 3rd world countries in shit holes on the other side of the world having no impact on their day to day lives. This war would be completely different. Americans would die in large numbers and life back here in conus would be significantly harder, strained and would be targeted and affected. The war would be brought home here in ways most US citizens are completely unprepared for.

Its a terrible idea and we need to stay the hell out and just worry about ourselves.

Authorize shore leave for a few Burke's, such that there's always one or two in port too.

That means China *cannot* invade without effectively declaring war on the US.

It makes our intentions clear and unambiguous, and it means they cannot convince themselves that we would sit things out if they invaded.

If we'd had a few tank divisions practicing joint exercises with the Ukrainians in the east, Russia never would have invaded their either.

just be aware, if China takes Taiwan, China will own every major chip maker on the planet. China will be able to make chips with, whatever backdoor shit they want. This would be monumentally bad for the world, as the CCP will be able to control almost every appliance on the planet from your refrigerator to your washing machine, to your phone to your car/tractors, and farm equipment to airplanes and air control. the bad possibilities are unfathomable.

imagine in 5 or 6 years, America is in a civil war and the CCP decides to turn off all the vehicles in the country, or shut down the grid.

Taiwan has the largest high end chip factory in the world. Supposedly there are plans to build a similar one here in the US but these take plenty of capital and time (years) to manufacture.

Some scenarios see the taiwanese destroying the factory before china can get their hands on it. If that happens it will plunge the world into a recession since so many chips that go into so many products are made there.

The ukraine invasion hasn't really disrupted the world's economy. A chinese invasion of taiwand probably would. All I can say is if you are planning a purchase in the next year or two of anything that requires a high end chip - you might want to make it sooner rather than later. You don't want to experience the supply chain backlogs when the primary source of high end chips goes offline.
