The Abrams was very comfortable for the drive, just if the halon system went off and you weren't fast enough out the hatch or the gunner didn't turn the turret you were fucked.

Ekho Moskvy (the Echo of Moscow), has been one of the most influential and respected media outlets in the country ever since it was founded in 1990. The station was taken off the air over its failure to toe the Kremlin’s official line while covering the invasion of Ukraine that began on Feb. 24. On Thursday, the station’s board of directors — which is controlled by its majority owner, a media arm of Russia’s state-controlled natural gas giant Gazprom — declared Ekho Moskvy closed.

While the Soviet system worked well enough during the Cold War, it is not well suited to the modern era. While Russia still won due to the sheer size of its forces, it should have be been an easy victory.

More than that.I could see if they were playing against the pros. You dont stop your convoy on the road for four days during an attack. You dont just forget to bring diesel. You dont let the enemy have communications and internet. You dont send your troops in until the sky is clear.

This is basic stuff. You think the Russians dont know this? Is that what your saying? They cant read? they dont study? They cant do math? or accounting? Thats absurd.

They re not as good as advertised Illl give you that. but nobody forgets the basics. I dont buy it for a minute.

Russia has started to move to a professional force, but the transition will take time to complete. (2015) Only about a quarter of Russian ground forces are fully staffed, well-trained professional troops. Those professional soldiers—who are not quite trained to Western standards—are part of a corps of rapid reaction forces. The Russians have also taken steps to overhaul training and professional military education, based on a Western model. They have also made many organizational changes—the Kremlin cut the military’s bloated headquarters staff, command and control was streamlined and logistics have been improved. Further, many old Soviet-era division-sized formations were cut and reformed into fully staffed combat brigades that are similar in concept to a U.S. Army brigade combat team. But the reforms are incomplete and will remain so for years to come—especially as Russia’s economy continues to face massive challenges thanks to low oil prices and sanctions.

and if the Russians break it, what are they going to do ? Evacuate their troops?
