Sounds good, except I dont have a reference number, just a form letter from the judge. I may give it a try.

Sounds good, although I have already been approved as I've received my approval letter, just not the actual card yet.
Email sent today ( 7:18 AM) with photos of both the letter received and my driver's license ( as proof of identification, as a reference number wasn't on the letter).

6 months from what date, though? The date an application is submitted, the date that all required reference forms are mailed back in to the country clerk, etc?
Exactly. Read in a prior post on this thread it could be anything.

I'd say the date you drop it off, unless it's one of the insane counties where you need an appointment to even pick it up.
In that case I'd say someone needs to make a PDF available and then people can drop it off without the BS appointment.

Not uncommon for some .gov agency to turn themselves into a for profit publisher with a monopoly on a captive market.i was going to go check out Livco's PP process never got to it .. but last i knew it was like 10 or 20 bucks to pick up the app WHY ? ..
shit i can download a fill out able DMV registration pdf for FREE .. print it and go put my car on the road ..

But Livingston County has one of the best PP processes in the state anyway.
Ya know what day today is? Day 292. A day late from the weekly update. No card received as of today ( have USPS app, not coming today). I have a feeling I may not see this until after the new law takes effect, or shortly before. If I'm right, that would be a kick in the junk for sure. Been 21 days since I received the approval letter. It will definitely be longer.

why cant i just download a Pistol Permit pdf like i can from DMV for my car or truck or boat .. and fill out and print and take

question .. do the people they arrest and get fingerprinted and have to pay 100 dollars ?
but in the actual sense they do charge for the permit .. you paid 110 dollars for a pistol permit ..

Seems like an applicant’s chances of “winning” a NYS pistol permit are worse than winning the Publishers’ Clearing House Sweepstakes.
So, called the clerk today to get an update. Had a brief conversation before getting my answer, thought it appropriate to share. Clerk stated that over 3K permit applications were submitted in Monroe county in 2021. So far this year it has surpassed 2K applications and it only being July, this year will by far out due last year.
Clerk stated they are currently processing permits granted by the judges from June 14th. My letter of approval was signed June 16th. I should be receiving my card sometime next week per the clerk and most likely past the 300 day mark. Once received the entire timeline will be finally posted at last.

My brother just made an appointment to submit his application for Monroe County. Appt date is 8/26/22. Sneaking in just before the cutoff. We hope.
I assume he scheduled through the county's website. People cancel their appointments frequently and new slots become available. It worked that way for me amending my permit. You might want to tell him to keep checking the scheduling page to see if anything pops up sooner.
I agree with @irick above. Check the clerks office appointment site regularly as he could move up. But even if they follow the old rules regarding permit applications, the fact that they batch process all applications, that being the old way and those with the new requirements mixed together, and those of the new requirements will take a LOT LONGER, I wouldn't expect to hear back for well beyond a year, closer to the current 18 month wait, if not longer unfortunately.

For all in the future, here are the specifics;
Application given to the clerk September 24th, 2021 @ 2:37 pm.
References were contacted 194 days later, Thursday, April 7th, 2022 @ 10:37 AM, or 194 days, 20 hours and zero minutes.
Letter of Approval recieved 270 days from application date, June 21st, 2022 @ 5:21 pm, or 270 days, 2 hours and 44 minutes after application.
Actual permit received in mail Thursday, July 21st, 2022 @ 4:02 PM.
Total time from application to card received-
300 days, 1 hour, 25 minutes.
So, 42 weeks, rounded down or just over 82% of a common year.
Been a long road. Hope this helps someone in the future calculate thier projected date to receive a suburban pistol permit in Monroe County.
