What holster are you rolling with?

Like alot of things, the right holster is a subjective thing.
You will get 100 different suggestions.
After spending alot of money, ive realized what most eventually do......theres not a ton of difference.
Most companies use the same materials and form them basically the same way.
Alien gear vs Crossbreed, DeSantis vs Galco.....etc.
There are 100s of small makers who build the same holsters.
After all this I use Alien gear 2.0 and "We The People" for IWB and DeSantis Mini Scabbard for OWB.
You dont need to spend a fourtune for a proper holster.
Just find what you like.

I use a Cutt's Custom Leather IWB for my Shield, I carry it at 6:00, and I have a Safariland OWB for the P30 when I'm places I can open carry, or if I'm wearing a big enough jacket.

Small of back carry is frowned upon due to.the possibility of falling backward onto the gun and incurring a serious back injury as a result.
While a valid concern I wonder if it isn't just a little overblown.

I wondered the same thing. I would think access to it would be more of an issue. If injury is the concern than carrying at 3 would be just as bad with the possibility of breaking your hip. With appendix you could shoot off your wiener.

Along with slow draw that would be easy for am attacker to stuff

Do you do any training? Have you taken a class, if you have taken a class that is any level above just static bench shooting do you only happen to run your OWB strong side holster? Or have you tried to do so with small of the back carry?

No, I have taken no formal training yet. Most I've done at home is dry fire drills w/ snap caps and practice drawing, shooting, reloading from the holster. If I were to take a class, I would not use my owb holster because my HK is not my carry gun, and I would want to practice w/ my Shield and the IWB holster as much as possible.

It's easy to disarm someone with SOB too. I have spotted many carrying there and at 4 or 5 o'clock while standing in line somewhere in a store. I've often wondered how easy it would be for me to disarm him if I was a criminal and saw this golden opportunity.

I'm pretty sure if you were to try and take a class the instructor would almost instantly not allow small of the back both for safety (if you fell with the gun there, and the fact that the draw results in you flagging yourself with the muzzle) and practically, it's slow and easy to stop

No reason to justify to anyone here why you prefer your carry method. There could be a myriad of reasons why. Whether comfort, medical etc....just because some are more vocal doesn't mean their way works for you. You have a gun, you carry....more than most do in this country.

Sorry I will "politely" disagree, if someone is doing something wrong or dangerous then they should 100% be called out. This whole "you have a gun, you carry" so its all good mentality is just bad for everyone.

Depends who you ask I guess....liberals say any gun ownership is bad for everyone. If you train in the way you prefer to carry its always better than not obviously. How would you feel if NYS told you what side you have to carry on because they say it's safer for you? Are you ok with that?

We live in a fucking age of information, you dont even need to spend money on low level basic ass training, every instructor and their mom as websites or YouTube channels to give out basic information on what may have once been seen as good practice and "the right way" to carry and shoot and why it's no longer viable or safe or smart and better ways to do so.

And yet we still have people to fucking lazy to realize that just because New York says sure you gave us enough money and time for a carry license doesnt mean they are actually ready to do so.

At one point it was common practice to only carry a revolver and shoot one handed or even the marines had a completely different way to go about shooting

But you are right I'm sure if someone showed up for rifle qual and started shooting like this, no it's cool, no they would get the shit kicked out of them

Never said I was talking about him. But why shouldn't we let someone who has clearly stated they never had any formal training, that their method is not the safest or the most effective, again if this person was to eventually think about taking a class with a reputable instructor, I'd be willing to bet money the moment they tried to pull some SOB carry that instructor would with out any hesitation tell them now

Exactly. I think pointing a gun at your dick is wrong and so do many “experts”. Yet you don’t seem to mind it. We all have opinions. That being said I think sob is maybe the worst way to carry (for me anyway). I have never tried it and never will. It could work for others though.

Just my 2¢ because I’m not an expert, Leo or ex-military. I’m just a guy who carries and loves to shoot.
Every training class and concealed carry scenario I have done SOB is not allowed. I never asked why but my thought on it is when reholstering you can not see what your doing. You can try to feel your way as you slide the gun back in place but you can’t see if your shirt might be in there also. That makes me nervous so it’s not for me. However I know of 1 lady who does SOB with a full size 1911 and she does it very well.
Me - I love aiwb because I can see everything as it’s happening but I know a lot of people that are scared to death of aiwb

And I’ve never met someone who aiwb without first going through some training classes
