What is your SHTF pistol?

What is your one pistol that you own that you are planning on trusting in whatever type of SHTF, WROL situation you envision unfolding?

I'm just talking outloud here but I'm starting to rethink that guns like a p365xl / 365 macro and the glock G48 might really fill a good role. They're bigger than subcompacts but they are slimmer and more concealable than double stacks.

They have a blend of concealment and capability


Just curious on some of your opinions.

Mine is a super exciting answer: Glock 19.

Why? Because it's a Glock 19. Most popular caliber with most available ammo? Check. Magazine compatibility with hundreds of other firearms, not to mention 80% of LEOs and countless other people nationwide? Check.

What if my holster breaks from hard use? No problem finding a replacement. Internal parts replacement? relatively easy. Reliability? It's a Glock. What if it gets lost??? All the training I've put into it will translate to the next Glock I find.

Doesn't matter the scenario, from normal everyday use to nuclear holocaust, I think every sane, sober, moral American should have a G19. Buy whatever else makes you happy, and carry whatever makes sense for you, but I really do think you can't go wrong with G19.

I will admit, I made a couple of changes to mine. Aftermarket slide and Holosun 507 ACSS. But at the end of the day, it's a Glock.

Sig 365/365xl combo. You can drill out the blocking mechanism and make them fit the extra rounds nys steals from you easily. I have extra mags for each and if something happens they are almost the same gun and I can make ‘em work. I’d toss a .22 lr in the mix too, rifle preferably on that for small game hunting.

I'd have a hard time deciding between one of my 1911s or Beretta 92, each have their own merits. Fuck I'll take both, that way I'm good for 9mm and .45

10mm Delta Elite is my favorite, followed by 1911's but if I've got to grab ONE and hit the road, I'll likely be the Beretta M92.
I have multiple choices of handguns, magazines, ammunition, conversions, etc. but the 9mm Beretta has a solid history behind it and I know it works and how to shoot it effectively.
Glock's are realistically the best choice, and damn reliable, but I really dislike them and don't have any so the premise of grabbing one and heading for the door isn't viable.

It's a tough choice, but whatever I chose during a SHTF situation, I'd make sure it was NYS compliant first and foremost.

Tough one. But for sheer SHTF and possible bug out pistol, I would have to say my Taurus Judge. Mainly because of versatility and reliability. The 45LC may not be the most popular caliber, but it is cheap to reload. Hell I cast my own bullets for it. It can take decent size animals and great for self defense. Then I can run .410 shot or slugs for smaller game or self defense. Downside of course being capacity.

Lots of different choices being made. Single stacks, double stacks, revolvers, hammer, striker, polymer, metal, 9mm, .45 etc...

What do you guys think of a G48 MOS as a "do all" shtf gun for NY? Can set it up with red dot and light.

I think we have enough choices and variety now where if you are go 9mm you have to at least select something that is 10+1. and a G48 meets that criteria. It offers everything a G19 does but thinner and more concealable, while still big enough to be used.

Unless I'm standing around on guard duty or LARPing I would want to be concealed and I am trying to keep that in mind when trying to think of a great do it all platform. I would want to be armed and carrying every waking moment and comfort and concealablilty with capability is valuable. I also think the p365XL and p365MACRO fit this description or niche

I see a lot of G19 and some 1911's. I would liken that to the Russian T34 vs the German Tiger in WWII.

Boring yet practical choice I’d go with my Glock 19 . It would be relatively easy to resource more mags, parts etc . Easy to conceal for gray man applications and yet can do all that a full size pistol can .
