the list is so long, i'm not sure what exactly is "next". My current top of the list is below. I do have to get some new things soon as i have a new safe and it looks horribly empty at the moment.
semi-auto shotgun for use in a 3 gun. Currently looking at the mossberg 930 JM Pro Series because its in my price point and has a 9 round tube.
something by H&K. VP9, P30, etc. not sure yet exactly which one. I might go with the p30 since right now i only have striker fire pistols

I have my eyes on the SIG Sauer P320 RX model (has factory-mounted optic), but I'm kind of hoping to wait until the (un)SAFE Act gets struck down. Is that too optimistic of me? I'd rather not gimp the mags and buy expensive 10-rounders....

Grease guns are like $15K to $20K. Even a Stemple costs close to $10K these days. Or you saying you are selling a Class III to put down on an investment property?

How do you come to the conclusion that 6.5 is a fad? Just wondering if you see something I don't. I wonder if .308 was a fad back in the day? The reason I ask is I wanted to back in the 80's get a .50 bmg. Stupidity as I am I listened to a couple people and in vested in other guns that still hold there value but not more. The .50 BMG would have made a lot of extra gun money.

I'm not sure 308 is a good example of a fad because the reason Uncle Sam went to it was cost. Same ballistics basically as 30-06 but the shorter case worked more reliably in semi-automatic rifles, and the cost of brass and gunpowder went down too. So I see that.
I made a few fad purchases that ended up being worthless. Examples include: my first lever action in the early 1980's was a Marlin 336CS in .35 Remington. Clearly most lever actions were 30-30; and I am not sure there is a viable reason for .35 Remington to even come on the market. But I bought one; and now you can't even typically find .35R in Walmart and other stores. So of course had I picked 30-30; I would have a better rifle now. I also jumped on .357SIG and .45GAP. Again - worthless fad decisions. I cannot be sure 6.5CR will be a fad; but we do know there are more than one 6.5 mm round out there and who's to say which is best? But why do I even need a 6.5 mm round? My range is 500 yards and I am cutting trees for 600 this summer. I can ring a 6" plate all day long at 500 with my Remington 700 Police in 20" bull and in 26" standard. I can also ring the plate with my AR's, with my Savage .223, and with my Remington 700s in 300 Winmag, 338 Winmag, and 30-06. So what does a 6.5CR buy me at 600 yards that I am not doing all day long now with my present 40 or 50 long rifles? It's just "another caliber". It won't kill animals better. There are plenty of great rounds for any animals in North America; including the 308 and the two Winmags. So it's not better for hunting. And any 30 MOA or 40 MOA scope is going to get the more mature rounds we all have to go out to 1,000 and beyond. Plus you can buy a base that is 20 MOA to increase you out to upwards of 60 MOA's all-in. So I don't see the need. And honestly, my range is literally on my property (I own a few hundred acres) so I can go out there for an hour pretty much any day it's not raining or snowing. I bet I shoot 250 to 275 days per year. This 6.5CR adds nothing to my scenario.
50 BMG is another bad example IMHO. I did buy a 50 BMG, but it neither appreciated nor depreciated. I bought the Barrett M99A1 Sure-Shot. I only got it because they fucked up the price and I got it for so cheap that I could flip it the next morning for $1K profit. I shot it maybe 3 or 4 times, sat on it for a year, and flipped it for a 25% profit. It's not a fad - it's just a stupid round to buy. You don't need it for hunting, it's not a match round so it's not needed for 1,000 yard competition, and it's expensive as hell.
There are really 2 ways to have a firearms collection appreciate; and neither has to do with caliber. One is to buy Class III on a Form-3 or Form-4 and sit on it for 20 years and then flip it for a huge profit. The second is to buy rare collectibles, sit on them, and also flip those for a huge profit. Collectibles are typically C&R, and the older the better. If 20 or 30 years ago you bought Revolutionary War / War of 1812 muskets, or 1700s era dualing guns, or even rifles from the Civil War; you would be sitting on a gold mine. And you can buy those today and still have the prices continue to climb. I went in with 2 friends in about 1999 or 2000 on three AN-M2's. We paid $50K for all 3. We sat on them until about 2008 and flipped them for $40K each. So in 8 or 9 years we turned $50K into $120K. And shot them a few times; which was also kind of hilarious to be honest. But that's it - any other weapon you buy is worth jack shit and you were better off buying Gold Buffalo Proofs or 2 kg bars of silver at the daily ask price.

Just bought it last night actually. Its a savage 10 fcp sr in 308 win and i just ordered the glass forit today. Vortex viper hs 4-16. Threw a pretty basic 30 muzzle brake on it for now just until i stop reeling from what i just laid out for all this and i jump for a better one. Id like to be optimistic and say my next putchase after that will be a 1911 but alas, NYS feels the need to micro manage our 2nd ammendment and i may be waiting until next september until i can get my first handgun. Maybe it will be a shorter wait time by December when i can submit it.
Barring that i think i may pick up a new 12 gauge between now and than. Hell maybe I'll get a shockwave but chances are good that it will be a benelli of some sort. We'll see what else fails into the safe in the next year.
