Those officers literally made it up on the spot. No legislation required.
No one in that video claimed the thongs are illegal. The dispute was about what constitutes a nudity, which is presumably banned on that beach. Exposed ass with a string wedged in the crack is still exposed ass. Just because such wear is promoted as acceptable, doesn't change the facts of the matter.
Kind of stepping down from the "they don't make the rules, they just enforce them" nonsense isn't it?

Was on a grand jury and an early 20 's male sent one to a 14 year old ,, He is in prison now we think... But what was taken away from the case .. Most girls today are asked for a nude photo from boys they both know and don't know and many have had "questionable photos sent to them..
Not uncommon for an early teen to have received one and photos are passed around like crazy...Perhaps not nudes but thong photos ... All the time .
Back in my time the best day of the year was the boy scout paper drive .. .. Playboys never made it to the collection center .. Today it is sexting.in high school. even middle school. . What you do or do not find immoral has no bearing on what someone else should be allowed to do in public.
Personally I find the actions of these officers far more immoral than her ass cheeks.
Likewise what you "don't want to see" is irrelevant.
There are a lot of things I would prefer not to see on s beach less (or even a child to see) than her ass. But that doesn't mean I can tell a land whale she needs to leave.

While you are correct in one sense but would you do something that your boss told you to do was morally wrong or illegal?
Also keep in mind that first cop was a dick. Maybe she was horrible to him and acted like a moron but we will never know because of the timing of the video start time.
I think most don’t blame them for enforcing the law it was how the first interaction went. All they would have to do is say look we received a complaint about the way your dressed and here’s what we need you to do going forward. Here’s the penal code and you can read it for yourself. Any questions? Then clarify if there were questions.
I enforce government regulations on food businesses and this is how I handle it. I find it’s 100% effective because laws/regulations are generally written very vague. The person in the beach is right where does it stop and what is ok and what isn’t? I’m sure partly they were being jerks but they wanted to know what they could and couldn’t do same as the people I regulate. They just want to comply 99% of the time. The first cop failed at that miserable. Also the fact about Speedo’s was completely ignored. I do believe they got a complaint but I also believe they went to this beach dressed like that numerous times before and that other cops walked by them earlier and said nothing. This is why laws can’t be picked and chosen but laws like this often are because there’s not victim to speak of.
But yes overall I will agree they were just following orders but what if those orders include kicking down your door because you’re a gun owner to remove said doors? Would you be on here complaining then?

I agree at some point it’s just about decency and respect for others. Also some people don’t want their children seeing these things. Is there a point to go too far on both sides yes. If you want to see naked women google that shit or go indoors or to a nudist colony. Naked people don’t belong on the public streets or places.

I said at some point. I don’t make up or know what that point is. I never even said this girl passed that point. It’s hard to describe what that point is and it’s different for everyone. I’m sure this is an attempt to make all feel welcome at the beach.
My point being that people shouldn’t be able to just walk around naked or do as they please because it seems ok to them. We have laws for a reason(at times) because not everyone feels the same.
I’ll admit this ones a slippery slope and very borderline to me. I also agree that the questions she asked should have been answered. What is it isn’t acceptable. They weren’t.

No individual or government can change the norms of public decency, they are an organic development of the collective wishes of society.
There are a lot of things that are widely considered indecent but also widely acknowledged shouldn't be illegal.
At the same time, the government has no business enforcing public decency at all.

Social pressure is far from empty words. It tends to be more effective than law actually.
When was the last time you heard a white guy use the N word ? It's not illegal, but the social pressure is enormous.
There are very very few things that should have the power of government behind them. Regulating personal expression is absolutely not one of them.

Public places (beaches included) in many other parts of the world have far more exposed flesh for all to see.
And nobody in those societies finds it indecent, offensive or even sees it as signal of a moral spiral. It's not even a blip on their moral or ethical radar.
