Drones are changing warfare the same way the tank airplane machine gun did. I think we are behind on drone doctrine. Big and expensive isn't the way to go . Can you imagine a B52 dropping a few thousand drones near the front lines? or submarines launching them only a mile or so from the coast or up river? or several dozen on a cruise missile? or fishing trawler? It's going to happen and likely some point sooner than we expect.

Taiwan is going to be another Asian shit-show if the US gets dragged into it...Treaties, NATO, UN, all have us aligned, but this is one the real experts had damn well better be consulted with and arriving at a consensus BEFORE we start sending Troops...Iraq was the beginning and over twenty years later we're fucked over in Afghanistan: there are lessons to be learned.

The problem is I think very rapidly China can forcefully isolate and blockade Taiwan if the US does not get involved very early. So early intervention would be critical. Delay would compound the difficulty of intervention.
It's going to be a complete shit show. China isn't going to just let us sink their ships, shoot down their planes and kill their soldiers. They will shoot back and likely preemptively at many US facilities. Wouldn't surprise me at all if they take down our grid in the process and attack soft infrastructure targets in gray zone warfare. If Taiwan leads to open hostility we're going to feel it here.
Don't forget about all the military aged invaders that already here due to the xiden regimes lack of a border.
