I had a buddy that showed up on a coyote hunt once with his dad's old 06 and a box of these. First time I've ever seen them before. I'm not sure how they'll fly either but they're pretty neat.
The transfer hasn't taken place yet. This is just to make sure I have my ducks in a row beforehand.
I understand the issues with transferring the lower as 'other'. But even though it will be transferred as a pistol, it is not yet technically a pistol. That's where my confusion is. If it is not...
Hey BulletGuy.. Can I bring the lower home as soon as the 4473 is complete? I don't need the coupon before I can take possession of the lower because it's not a pistol yet correct? It just can't be built until I have the coupon and the lower is officially on my permit?
I don't see the need to be in the middle ground. If I'm building a pistol then a short barrel (8"-10") fits the overall objective just fine. If I want more of a shooter then 16" should work just fine.
Carrying it loaded doesn't do much for me. That's why I own handguns. Also I don't see the...
Well for whoever cares, I went with a New Frontier 9mm lower. One that accepts Glock mags. It just makes the most sense for what I do. I shoot to much to pay for 300 aac, I can't shoot my steel at the distance I'd like to with 223/556, and I currently own 4 glocks all in 9mm. It took a little...
I'm taking it all in. This is the kind of discussion I was looking for. I want to enjoy as much of my 2a rights as I can here while avoiding state prison. The more you know the better. Thanks for your info.
Is it measured with the brace extended to the furthest position? I guess my question is, what is the longest barrel you can have while staying under 26" overall. With say a shockwave brace.
Thanks for the info!
I'm curious though, what does the barrel length have to do with anything? I'm aware of the difference between rifle length and pistol length but I've never been asked the length of a barrel while putting a pistol on my permit.
All great info BG thanks. So if the lower is sent to my FFL as a pistol and he transfers it to me as a pistol does that remove any problems? Can it then be amended to my permit just like any other pistol so I can take possession of it? I assume that's how it would be done with say a stripped...
So yesterday I won a free Spikes Tactical lower (awesome right), and today I need to decide what I want to do with it. First thought that came to mind was a pistol build considering that's something that the arsenal is lacking. I figured this could be a good thread to sort out some questions...
Okay a little redemption.
Gun: Henry Lever Action .22
Stance: off hand @25 yards
Ammo: CCI standard velocity
Date: 2/3/2017
Score: 69
All though having a scope really helped this time, this is very good shooting for me. Normally I struggle shooting off hand. I'll say it again, those birds...
I'm sick of the 'won't happen so why bother' mentality. It takes 3 minutes of your time and maybe if more people viewed it that way we'd get more done. You'd think New Yorkers would appreciate that more than anybody.
Signed!
I'm interested in trying out USPSA. Is there a location in or around Saratoga County that offers local matches?
I've heard that Watervliet Practical Shooters has a few opportunities but I'd like to know if there are any more options.
Thanks for any help!
I use a Competition Electronics Pocket Pro II. It was between that and the Pact timer and the CE one was cheaper so I went with it. I don't have anything bad to say about it.
I'm not proud of my shooting here but I shot it so I'll post anyway.
Gun is a Glock 17 MOS with Trijicon RMR and factory rounds. Shot at 10 yards and drew from concealment each time (just because). Scored a 45... ouch.
I'd like to give this a shot a few more times on a nicer day and with a...
I use to do a lot of their drills. They have some good ones. My favorite is probably the F.A.S.T. drill, but I love working from concealment. I see Dsdmmat has posted quite a few of his own so hopefully he keeps that going.
Trust me I have zero expectations of anything good happening. For us anyways. I simply signed the petition to try and help the other states. Maybe one day I'll move and get to taste freedom a bit though.
I agree with spat. It might not be the most efficient way to get your firearm out but a safe that takes a little 'work' to get into might not be a bad idea.
I have a Holosun 403 on an AR and also one on a 10/22. Love them both. Also have a Sig ROMEO5 on a different 10/22 and love that. Apparently because they're pretty much the same sight as bullet guy said.
There seems to be a lot of good options out there but I can vouch for those 2. You'll like em.
I had an MRO for a little while. It's a trijicon, it was rugged, clear and did what it was suppose to do. For some reason though I just didn't like it as much as a few other dots I have. Something about the sight picture. It seemed more crowded to me.
This is all personal preference though...
They always seemed a little pricey to me too but it's a convenient spot to stop for ammo so I end up there quite a bit.
One thing that got me though was about 6 months ago I went in to buy 9mm and the chick asked the normal "rifle or pistol" question at checkout. My cards were in my hand...
Just the answer I was looking for, thank you.
I'll keep an eye on this thread and if a match becomes a possibility in the future then I'd love to attend. I might even be able to bring a guy or two along with me if the numbers are needed.
Thanks again!
It sounds like a good time to me. I would consider making the drive out for the weekend but I'd need a little more info on what I'm signing up for.
I'm sure I'd be fine in the pistol and shotgun portions but do you have any idea on how the rifle stage will be conducted? It seems to me that NY's...
I think it's a sweet idea. Not that the Hearing Protection Act will ever help us here but say it does, this takes away the worry of not being able to have a threaded barrel to attach your suppressor to.
