You can use the 365 grip with an xl slide, and the xl grip with a 365 slide. I have been thinking of getting an xl grip for mine now that we can get factory 10 rounders for them. Agreed mag prices are a bit crazy. The grip on these is about as small as I feel comfortable with, the xl would be...
That looks pretty damn nice! As for sights, I have had decent luck with utg flip up sights of all things. They are cheap and I really was just looking for a placeholder in case an optic fails. I have a cheap vortex on my build, strike eagle 3x9 I think? Not happy with it though.
FRB, any handguard will work. I have an Odinworks on mine as I was looking for light weight, but thinking of making it the same as my 556 build. No clearance issues to worry about with any guards since no gas block.
I think you will really like that setup. I have a grab bag of ammo my mark...
Not to late, although dedicated 22 barrels are scarce at the moment. I have a 20" cmmg that has decent accuracy and stellar reliability. Much better than when I was running the conversion in a 556 upper.
If you are going dedicated upper, right to bear has slick sides in stock. Dedicated 22lr barrel, a new collet for your bcg, and a handguard you will be go. I did one and don't regret it one bit.
Bonus whatever sights you use can be POA/poi for 22, it will be more accurate, and you don't need...
Congrats! Looks good. Can't wait to hear back after you get that glass mounted and sighted in. I just assembled my first upper last weekend, the suspense to get to the range is killing me, hang in there.
Ugh, Seekins is nice, but I have never bought into the billet is better crowd. The only benefit I see is the 2 problematic areas assembling a lower are already addressed (trigger guard and bolt catch). Still, you could buy and complete a couple forged lowers for that price. Anderson for the...
Head out to the Firing Pin in Bergen when they get the range open again. They have an awesome selection of rentals. I think the Beretta px4 storm is worth a look. You can really clean up the trigger on them down the road to if she likes it. Otherwise the M&P 380 or 9 EZ may be good options...
Awesome. I wouldn't even sweat the lower from BA. AR 15 lowers are all compatible. Here is an Aero(who owns BA now) lower in stock and ready to ship. These have the tensioning screw for upper/lower fit. They also have the enhanced version available that has a built in trigger guard For a...
Since you currently have a choice, I would look to go mid length. Shoots a little softer. Most of us aren't going to shoot enough to have long term reliability issues with carbine lengthn systems anyway. If you do, then the cost of a new barrel/gas system won't be a bitter pill to swallow...
So I have a vp9sk which is close enough to a 26 in size, and the 365. I shoot the vp better under stress, but the 365 carries so well it gets the call in tshirt weather. Actually, I carry it all year. I would really love it for Sig to release some 10 rounders for the xl grip. That would make...
The Tipton should work. I have always used an old 2x4 and the floor to assemble mine. Support the ears for the trigger guard, install that first. A little oil on the roll pin and I use a pair of pliers to gently collapse one end to help it get started. My punches are all metal, so I wrap the...
Why pray tell would you need a bench vise? Not necessary for the pull pin detents or the safety detent. Bolt release/detent/ and spring can be captured with a small punch or even a nail or straightened paper clip from the barrel side while you drive the roll pin from the buffer side. Nothing...
Tapco, as much maligned as they have been over the years, sells a damn fine armorer's wrench. I have one, works great. You don't need it though. The punches used to install those roll pins will also work to install the castle nut if need be. Or any spanner wrench that fits works also.
Pro...
fighting fish, if you are anywhere near Rochester, Allstar Tactical should have some of there Delta V2 lowers ready soon. A little fancier then Aero and it is kind of cool to have a New York roll mark. AT stuff is well done. Sells out fast though, may want to reserve one if you are interested.
Nothing wrong with da/sa, but some striker fired pistols have good triggers too. Personally I like HK, and have found the sk versions to be a good mix of size, shoot ability, and accuracy. If I could only have one it would be the vp9sk without question. Having said that, the Sig 365 is my...

Here is one option in stock. You would need a compliant grip/stock config to take it home from your FFL but probably doable for under $550 or so.
S&W is selling NY compliant 15-22 these days for close to the price of that upper. Bonus you get last round bolt hold open that most conversions don't have. 10/22 or Marlin model 60 are great little .22 rifles as well. My kids love the 10/22 and will shoot it till there thumbs are sore from...
Well you need a carbine or rifle length buffer tube depending on the stock you get. Standard carbine buffer and spring should work fine. Some like a heavier buffer but with rifle length gas it will be a smooth shooter any way. I'm no ar expert, but if there are function issues you have some...
That shimmy has no effect on accuracy. It is annoying. Honestly, my cheapest upper locks up tightest, and my most expensive upper is the sloppiest. I have YHM extended pins that seem a tad oversized because they lock down even the looser combos. I dont use the set screw on the lowers that...
So I wanted to put an alternative out there. 16" is minimum barrel length for an AR rifle. Instead of getting a thread protector pinned and welded, you can also have a barrel cut and recrowned. Costs a bit more but does look nice. You would need an 18" barrel most likely to go this route...
After a bit of research I went with a Burris RT6.
Illuminated 1-6x with a simple but usable reticle. Made in the Philippines with decent glass at the price point. $350.00 all day but you can find them cheaper. For another 100 the 1-5x xtr ii are on clearance from a few sights as well.
A couple of cheap ways to fix the magazine. Check with your receiving ffl that they can do it for you. Worst case scenario you buy a safe mod or something and throw it on when you pick it up. Replacing the mag button is maybe a 5 minute affair. Also go with a lancer or pmag.
On the other...
As an MRI technologist for over 20 years, I can assure you the alien implant thing is something I hear several times a week. It stopped being funny for me in the 90's
So just for the record, I have a compmag and could not make it work with the bear flag defense loader. The compmag is a single stack design and as such only has one feed lip. The other feed lip is removed to allow for the mechanism that fixes the mag to the lower. I could get 1 and sometimes...
Just last week I walked into my local dicks looking to kill some time. They had what looked suspiciously like a pair of ar10 rifles on display. Unfortunately my wife called to be picked up before I could ask to see either of them, so they could have been bolt action or something. The counter...
A tolerant little cupcake like that surely has never broken the law either. Maybe the next time you run a red light we just bring you to the town square too.
I would say the metal framed models are more popular, and they are supposedly a little better trigger with drop in parts due to lower variance from pistol to pistol from the metal frame. Mine is a 22/45 and it is pretty comfy to shoot. I know I will add a Luger type framed model eventually...
After installing some volquartsen goodies, my markiii takes all of maybe 30 seconds to assemble. Take down is even quicker. There are a few nice videos out there that really break the process down for you. I kind of wish they would bring the mark ii back into production.
Nice write up! I'm a fan of the m&p lineup, Smith is doing a lot of things right at the moment I think. Glad to hear the stock triggers are getting better.
I think this little guy will find a decent market personally. All the m&p line tend to be reliable, and there are plenty of people out there that don't have the strength or dexterity to operate most pistols well. Age, injury, arthritis, etc. The population is getting older and I can think of...
