The supply in the Buffalo area sucks. Every time I go if find nothing. I’m not searching super hard but I’ve found nothing in months.

I feel like the situation is worse at least in the buffalo area now, than it was a few months ago. At least I was able to occasionally find .22lr over winter. Now I can't even find that

I seen ammo available, esp Rem, online. Outrageous. $50/box for Rem Core-Lokt 30/06 180 gr SP (round nose). Ppl ain't gonna pay that. A year ago it was $20 or so.

I have had zero luck finding any .45, 9mm or 5.56 around Buffalo. I was able to get plenty of 5.7x28mm from a few different places.

Good to know. Ima check my local WMs etc too. I could use a box of clay birds for my trap to shake the cobwebs out. Been a while.

I agree with you all and the Buffalo area being very difficult to locate any usable ammo in the last few months. In the last 5-6 months I’ve found 10 boxes of .223 and 3 boxes of 22lr. That’s all.
I bought some self defense rounds on line because the cost was similar to target rounds but now even the self defense ammo is about $1.75-$2.00/round. Not worth it when I have plenty now.

Anything else is winning the ammo lottery.

No I fully understand it's a national issue but I cannot find ammo in WNY. I spend a fair amount of time looking. All I meant is I think it's worse here than most places.
I was out of town on a road trip last month. I stopped at 2 random stores. An academy in SC and sportsman warehouse in WV. both had 9mm and 5.56. they had very small quantities and they were strict on a 1 or 2 box limit per person per day. But they had it regardless if it was very limited. It's the most I've seen it.

Yes if memory serves me correctly I paid around $1.00/round. This was late last year.

All the ammo manufacturers large and small claim to be working three shifts at 24-7 and still there is an extreme shortage of ammo and ammo components. It just doesn't add up, no matter how I process all the information I find, it just does not add up!!!!

People know what's coming, and there are millions of new gun owners. It's a terrible combination.
Demand is probably the highest it's ever been.
There are 2 possible outcomes to solve this mess.
More supply, new factories must be built as the current factories are all working at full capacity. So that means the current supply won't change.
Less demand, people need to stop buying ammo the second it hits the shelf. I think this is highly unlikely with so much uncertainty people are so used to being ammo starved that when they see ammo it's like an uncontrollable impulse to immediately buy it.
So it's not likely demand slows down that brings us back to finding ways to increase production and supply. Companies need to be willing to commit capital and be willing to take on risk. If they build new factories and demand slows they might go out of business and bankrupt.

PLUS- ppl are buying bulk now. Years past Labor Day and the sales I woulda strolled into one of the Marts and bought a box or 2 of 6's and 7-1/2's, and a couple boxes of slugs.
Now it's very rare that I buy less than a case of anything, unless it's a specialty item that I won't need to use often.
Case quantities- I won't run out any time soon and extra bonus matching lot #'s for rifle and handgun cartridges, so once I'm sighted in I'm sighted in.
Edit- Plus the foresight to plan well ahead and get what we could get, while the gettin was good.

PRIMERS!!!
OK, now that I have your attention I'd like to share two phone calls I have received this week. Both phone calls were from ammo manufacturers who have a "surplus" of primers. Now, before you go all ape s... on some of the big name folks out there I'll let you know these aren't the big name folks. But, these folks have obviously been resourceful and got their hands on some domestic and foreign primers. In the first case the OEM had 4 million primers he was willing to part with at the amazing price of $0.17 per primer. The second OEM was willing to part with all 2.4 million primers he had for a price of $0.20 per primer. Honestly, we could have probably purchased them all and sold them all and made a profit. So, you ask "Why didn't you?"
This answer is two fold
(1) We would sell every dang one but at the same time be absolutely crucified by customers and the shooting community for "gouging".
(2) I believe in the American spirit of capitalism. I admire these folks for being resourceful and sourcing these primers and trying to make a buck. However, I don't agree with how it's happening. I won't be the source of their profiteering. I'd rather just sell the minimal primers we're getting from the manufacturers themselves and be able to charge what I believe is a fair price.
Now, don't get me wrong. If someone came to us at what we believe to be a fair price and I could keep the prices somewhat reasonable I'd do it in a heartbeat. But, not at those prices.
But, I do ask for you guys to keep this in mind when you're seeing what you believe to be outrageous prices. Just because the retailer is selling at a high price doesn't mean they are gouging. Everyone in the industry is scrounging to find inventory to be able to sell. Sometimes we find the inventory and take a risk by buying it at a higher price just so we have something available to sell.
Just wanted to throw out an example so you all can see what's going on. What you see is not always what is truly happening.

Thanks I missed this yesterday. I’m sure it’s gone. I guess so much for trucks coming in on Wednesday and stocking the shelf on Thursday as told. No wonder why when I go on Thursday's it’s gone!!
I couldn't have timed it better. I was walking into the store as they were just bringing the ammo cart out from the backroom.
Looks like they now stock shelves sometime Tuesday afternoon. The worker said it's the most 9mm they've gotten in a single shipment in months.
If you can get there when they open today you might have a chance at finding some, I know it's a slim chance because anyone who walks in will impulsively buy as much as they can.
I didn't have much time to look through the cart but I thought no saw some .308. Not sure about .22lr or 5.56
147gr fmj wouldn't be my first choice but beggars can't be choosers. It goes boom and costs .289 cent a round. I'll gladly and happily buy it.
