I haven't seen a buck yet anywhere this year. Last year I shamed myself and missed an 8pt, 35yds away
Shot right over his shoulders with my AR. Still can't believe I did that, don't know what the hell I was thinking when I squeezed the trigger.Last year I seen a couple crawling up my pant leg when I was sitting under a tree. Haven't seen a single tick here this year other than one on one of our dogs, but I think it came from the bedding we got for him this year.

Lot of coyotes around here, even though they hunt them with dogs. Seems to be more than where I lived the past 15yrs. I'm sure they are taking a lot of fawns and yearlings. Gonna try to get permission to hunt them on neighboring properties, but from what other's have said about the land owner it doesn't look promising. More farm land real close I'm gonna try also.
Coyotes here are eating all the fawns,no recruitment.Rifles allowed here since the end of the shotgun erra with 3 weeks of doe season equals no deer left.Got to revamp the regulations here in the Southern Tier.Going to take years to get herd back on track,and thats not even a given with no new regulations being seen in the near future.Good luck NY hunters!!!!!

I'm surprised mow many people are still using shotguns here in Northern Broome, hear a lot of them and few rifle shots. I would really like to see some regulation on buck size to bring back some really nice racks. Doubt we'll see it though.
If you are not in the rifle area since they allowed it your good for a while.Big (aged) bucks will come easy at 300 yards after only being able to be reached at 100 yards before with shotgun,but will become less and less like here.I might be the first one here that says it but shits got to change!!!How can they allow rifles and crossbows without changing anything in the regs,just didnt care and wanted to wipe out the deer herd IMO.

I'm in the rifle area, just seems to be few rifle hunters. I do have a Remington 1100 but it's like NOS and sits in the gun cabinet lol, I hunt with my handgun and AR. It doesn't matter to me if that gets scratched up. The places I hunt the longest shot would only be 100yds anyway, a shit ton of woods here. Most of the really big fields are near roads and I never see anyone hunting them, hopefully for safety reasons.

You can hunt yotes in a shotgun county with a rifle once all seasons for deer are over. I used to hunt Putnam county a lot with my AR. The power line right of way off Pudding street used to get us a lot of shots.

I worked a midnight tour last night. Driving around I saw over 60 deer, including a handful of bucks like I will never see in the legal hunting woods.
