I really like the idea of making upstate change to New Amsterdam, following the cut off of New York city, and let them fuck themselves over for the rest of eternity.
Nailed it. Teacher's union and every other organized crime operation are against it.There are too many political entities against a convention so I'm leaning towards supporting one
Very tricky question. On the surface, it seems as if YES would be a good thing-a chance to fix the wrong things in the Const. Of course the power brokers want a YES vote because THEY will make the changes, not US.. Fact is, REPRESENTATIVES will make (or propose) the changes, not the PEOPLE. Would make much more sense if the actual proposals to change the Const were put directly to a state referendum (directly to the people) instead of representatives. If actual changes were to be voted on by direct referendum, then YES to a Con Con. As it is, reality prevails, and representatives will be making the final changes, not the PEOPLE, so NO is the reply given to the Con Con question. There are no friends in Albany on the side of gun rights (or very few). If changes are made, brace yourself for further PERMANENT restrictions. There is a better way. Don't ask me what it is, but there MUST be a way.
In addition, the “no” side spent $10.6 million lobbying in New York State, while the “yes” coalition spent a mere $383, 585.
Not naive. Stupid. There I said it. People like that are the reason why we are where we are today.I cant believe People are that fucking naive to think Cuomo is going to help the state. Hes going to help himself like he always did. nothing changes
I do. You have a brain around here.I saw a sign that said the Convention would cost New Yorkistan $300 MILLION, that alone is a 'no vote" from me ~~~ not that anyone cares what I think

Delegates are elected 3 per Senate district, an additional 15 are elected at large(It is unlikely the majority of those 15 will not be voted in by NYC and metro areas). There are 63 NYS Senate districts 34 to 35 of them lean right.(Kindof like the right leaning rino's who saved us from S.A.F.E?) This is why Cuomo, Speaker Carl Heastie and Senate Majority Leader John Flanagan are opposed to holding a constitutional convention because the math is not in their favor.

What about the millions from the sale of confiscated firearms which the cops never return (the ones which are left over after the cops take what they want for themselves)They will make that in 3 months on the George Washington bridge, if not more. 300 milion is a lot to us, but not to ny state. Its not even half a percent. Its a con. They need to cut their budgets not increase them
Travelers across New York state will get the chance to summon ride-sharing cars under a $163 billion state budget passed on Sunday that includes a free public college tuition program and ends imprisoning people younger than 18 with adults. The passage completed a deal struck between lawmakers and Governor Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat, on Friday, nine days after the fiscal year began.
spending in New York increased by approximately $6.8 billion—from $143.9 billion in fiscal year 2015 to an estimated $150.1 billion in 2016. This represents a 4.7-percent increase.
New York state budget and finances
* $1.79 billion in rentals on Port Authority-owned space at its various facilities.
* $1.51 billion in tolls at the George Washington Bridge, Lincoln and Holland Tunnels, and the bi-state agency's three Staten Island crossings.
* $758 million in aviation fees, or what the agency charges airlines to land at its airports.
* $254 million for parking, mostly at its airports.
* $178 million in PATH fares
* $177 million from various "other" sources, including rents specifically at the World Trade Center site.
Where the Port Authority really makes its money

How would the state constitution affect federal contract law?The unions dnt want it because the outcome could result in removing federal protection on contracts and pensions. As stated earlier, an employee is a year from retirement or even retired and collecting and boom, gone. Like or dislike unions, they do provide a balance and prevent the state and big business from dictating salaries and benefits. A convention also opens the door to letting states suggest changes to the constitution. With attacks on freedom of speech, freedom of the press, second amendment, etc, there is a huge risk if the vote is in favor of convention. 38 states must vote in favor of a convention for one to be held. 38 state conventions must ratify changes proposed (amendments).
This convention has been proposed by the left in an attempt to undermine Trump by blocking his ability to get things done by making changing to the constitution. Considering how close the election was, I not willing to take a chance on a convention. Populated with left wingers, I can only imagine the damage they would cause.

The benefit is pension protection. It’s in the nys constitution that they can’t lower pension benefits once given. Without it Cuomo can raid the pension funds to pay for his welfare and pet projects

...and that historically will put upstate at the mercy of NYC just like in the state government. FUACI question whether the people will have a direct say in any changes in the Const. They will be given an opportunity to give a yes or no through a referendum which will reflect the changes which REPRESENTATIVES have proposed.
