To be an armed security guard you need a gun too, but those guys need to get a permit first, correct ?
Why isn't a pistol permit a requisite for the job, instead of one being automatically granted when you are hired ?
You have to get your CDL before someone can employ you as a truck driver for instance, you aren't granted one when you sign up.
If it wasn't a "special people" issue, then all the special permissions you get would be available to everyone, but the job would only be available to people who got the license. Instead we have the opposite, where you need to get the job to get on the "special people" list, so much so that some *really* special people get honorary positions just so that they can get the special permissions.

If we weren't having our rights infringed, then we would have the same as you guys and nobody would be irritated.
Surely though you guys can understand the source of the hard feelings. It may be misplaced, but it is understandable, and some of your fellow officers attitudes certainly don't help.
I am not smart enough to answer this. All I can say in response is, I did not write the CPL or the Penal code. Myself, or no one that I know was part of the writing of the SAFE Act or the Sullivan Act.
I buy and carry the guns that I am allowed to by law. Nothing more and absolutely nothing less. I have never arrested a guy because he was in violation of the SAFE Act, I have never asked to see another persons permit and I have never asked how many rounds were in his gun.
I do whatever I can to support the 2A and the rest of the Constitution. \
I will not give up what I have to appease fellow gun owners. I will not not buy a fully functioning AR because another NY'er cannot. I will not carry smaller capacity mags because other are required to.

Nobody is asking you to give up anything. It's a tall order that'll never happen but what we want is non enforcement of unconstitutional laws.
Neither will I (I won't do it to appease cops either), but I also won't even pretend to defend those that work in the same line of work as those that will ruin the lives of those that choose to purchase those things. I won't be intellectually dishonest and say "it's all the same stuff, when we retire, we have all the same rights!" I won't ask for my fellow man to "prove it" either by asking them to take said AR or standard cap mag and parade it in front of a cop/other person that, no matter what they claim, deep down are not on our side. When push comes to shave, as so many have made clear with their "I'm going home to my family at night, no matter what happens to your sorry ass" mantra. When that group shows solidarity with the other side, maybe, I would consider it. Until then it will be the JBTs vs the Cop Bashers.

I don't want to derail this thread but the whole in front if a cop thing is response to saying that someone is a bit stupid or bending over to fix a magazine or pin a stock while in public if they don't want to go to jail.So that would be a bit stupid to ask of someone?
