Those who believe that some "moderate" Democrats will temper the Liberal Progressive push for crazy leftist legislation are engaging in unfounded wishful thinking. One thing you must admire about Democrats: They vote as they are told. They always fall in line and cast votes as their leadership dictates. They did it with Obamacare. Now, they have less choice. If they wish to avoid being primaried by their socialist hardcore left base, they must fall in line.
Additionally, although some Republicans are really Democrats at heart, no Democrats are really Republicans. So, the Democrats can always count on some RINO support for their agenda.

Most Libertarians support the bail reform law in NYS. We think "innocent until proven guilty" should be more than just a phrase we use to make ourselves feel warm & fuzzy inside. We think this should be put into practice.
Most Democrat policies proposed surrounding police reform have been supported by Libertarians. Ending no-knock raids, qualified immunity, setting up independent incident review boards, etc....
The Libertarian philosophy on abortion has been (and always will be) that the government has no place in regulating the human body.

Have you actually looked at the Bell reform that is going on in New York state? I live the Bell reform in New York state. It is a complete and total failure. In all seriousness if you have not read the Bell reform in it's entirety, you should spend some time and read it. You should see the additional rights that rapists and child molesters have under our Bell reform. This is not about my deep feelings, this is about a complete failure of this system.
I we'll say I agree to the libertarian position on abortion. Me personally I think it's disgusting that we're sucking babies in a vacuum. However I don't think the government should have a saying it one way or another. Libertarians want the government to stay out of the issue, the Democrats want to be involved 100%. I don't believe the libertarian party mirrors the Democrat party at all.

In regards to bail reform, are you referring to the "rights" afforded to ACCUSED rapists and child molesters or CONVICTED rapists and child molesters? There's a big difference.
I didn't say that Libertarian philosophy mirrored Democrat policy, I just said they aligned. What democrat policy surrounding abortion does the Libertarian party not agree with? Genuinely curious.

Of what I understand of the libertarian philosophy, they want no government intrusion no government laws and no government regulation in regards to the sucking of a fetus. The Democrats on the other hand, in the past 30 years or so, they have passed and enacted well over 1500 laws rules and regulations in regards to abortion.
This does not look like an alignment to me.
I could be wrong because I have never been nor will I ever be a libertarian. I do not study their platforms, I do not pay attention to their candidates. I dabble in some of their writings and that is it.
In regards to the Bell reform, I have watched accused rapists be released with no bail. I have seen many child molesters released without bail. I agree we need some bail reform, just not the garbage that is being pushed on us.
When courts are open, I see firsthand the kinds of people that are being released back into society. Convicted or accused, I do not care... I don't need them to be convicted in a trial to know some of these people are guilty. I see a lot of the evidence, again I don't want them on the street I don't want them among me and I don't want them among my family.
Our form of bell reform in this state is a joke. I am not trying to convince you to follow my thoughts, but seriously read our bail reform. I think if you fully read it you will be a sickened as I am

I am not sickened by ACCUSED criminals being let free on their on recognizance. After all, innocent until proven guilty. I am sickened by people that think they can judge a person's innocence or guilt at arraignment. You being in law enforcement makes it even more alarming. I agree that people who are a threat to society should be in jail, I don't agree with violating their due process rights in order to accomplish this sense of "safety." Personally, I am relieved that some of the tax-payer burden of feeding and housing people for non-violent or victimless crimes has been lifted. This state needs all the financial help it can get. If some of these crimes that people are being released for are violent, and the person is clearly a threat to society, then I concede that is a flaw in the current system.

Libertarians who support abortion are being played by the left. They have managed to frame this as a "rights" issue, not a "when does a new human life begin" issue.
If you believe that a human life begins at birth, then there's no need to regulate anything, the rights issue becomes irrelevant. Of course a woman can have a mole removed if they want. Abortion would be equivalent to that.
However, if you believe a human life begins *before* birth, then it's not a rights issue at all. It's murder. Nobody has the right to commit murder.
The *only* relevant fact that needs to be defined in the abortion debate is "when does a human life start". Once you answer that, everything else becomes obvious and indisputable.

I will agree that the establishment Dems and Republicans are 2 sides of the same coin and both are leading us down a path to disaster. The Republicans at a slower pace is all. But Trump was at least mostly trying to put the brakes on.

If we are going to exercise catch and release for everything, then we might as well eliminate law enforcement altogether.
The right to a speedy trial has been completely eliminated, but the fix for that isn't to eliminate bail too. The fix is "start the trial in 2 weeks, or they walk".

Agreed on Trump with the debt. That and not seizing the two years they had in control are my biggest disappointments. It’s getting stupid with the debt. I agree with others we’re going to the point of no return with the spending and debt. I think this administration will push us over the cliff.
