Co-opting the D's and the points you raise above go back to my comments in another thread regarding gun clubs and organizations.

All, 100%, all of the ones that are anywhere near to home for me that I am aware of, require NRA membership at a minimum and most also require NYSRPA. I will give them a modicum of credit for bringing the NYC case but I refuse to compromise my values by joining those organizations in order to be afforded the privilege of joining local gun-related organizations. So where does that leave me?

Yes I am a registered D so I can do what I can. I think the Fudds may be worse than the D's though.

Yep. At least the Senate version has an exemption for maintenance and cleaning. Even the fuds should be outraged at this bill but no one knows about it.

If only we had a pro-gun group that could lobby the state lawmakers, keep an eye on what they're doing and alert everyone to egregious bills like this. Maybe we could call it the New York Rifle and Pistol Association... ooo, and it could be affiliated with a national gun rights group to give it support and teeth!

Looks to me like they want the sale of stripped lowers to citizens to be illegal, serialized or not. They seemingly want you to only buy fully assembled and regustered guns and then do nothing but load, fire, and unload with it.

Reminder, NYS Senate Bills 13 & 14 were signed into law on October 28, 2021. S13A (unfinished receiver) becomes effective on the 120th day after signing or February 25, 2022 with a conditional 6 month grace period for certain circumstances/actions (sale, serialization). S14A (ghost gun) becomes effective on the 180th day after signing or April 26, 2022 with a conditional 6 month grace period for certain circumstances/actions (sale, possession, serialization, etc.). There is still time to lawfully acquire unfinished receivers (serialized or not), serialize unfinished receivers (engravers can do this for you or you can do yourself), serialize finished receivers (these are guns, so you have to be there and be in control of the receiver while the engraver does their work if they are not an FFL, or you can do yourself), complete unfinished receivers, transform ghost guns to serialized guns, sell ghost guns (with background check), give ghost guns to your immediate relatives, or sell unfinished receivers (serialized or not) without a background check. I expect more boating accidents and burials as we near these deadlines.
