The outrage has been here in NY since 2013. It just needs to organize and assemble. Not just a picnic on the capitals lawn. As evident, signs are ignored by the tyrants. Good question on the federal level - probably not. It doesn't matter though. This bill only applies to the guns that the gunsmith manufactured or caused to be manufactured. Even if they serialize it and register it, it's still defined as a "ghost gun" under this law because the gunsmith didn't actually make it. The only other option for existing "ghost guns" is to surrender - which obviously violates the takings clause.
This significantly hampers my plans for a possible gun manufacturing business. I can't even make a proof of concept without going full out for an 07 and gunsmith license now. That's a lot of bullshit and money to risk on a few untested ideas that I don't even know if there's a market for. NY Open for Business.

They're outlawing basic ownership of firearms in this bill. Almost nobody needs to bring their firearms into a gunsmith ever unless there needs to be milling or specialized coatings, tapping etc done. Most people don't have the money for gunsmiths and are fully capable of disassembling almost any firearm for cleaning, "maintenance" and mounting scopes and accessories, which doesn't require any skill or gunsmith training. It requires only an IQ @ room temperature and very very basic tools.
Simply installing anything or disassembling anything would be a felony on any firearm you own. And banning all firearm parts? Please.... People aren't going to bring their guns to the gunsmith to wipe off gunpowder residue or clean the lint out out of their carry pistol. Fucking idiot Andy Huomo.

Little bird told me they are shooting for serialized uppers AND lowers, barrels, and possibly stocks, as those are the major components it should be "easy" to serialize because of the size of the components. Which means at least a temporary end to all guns sales in NY, because even current stock sitting at the FFLs and box stores won't qualify as "compliant." FFLs will become felons overnight, unless there is a grace period or grandfathering.
