I have two S&W 40s myself. A 4013TSW and a 411. Yes the G23 does count.
P16-40, XD-40 subcompact, and just for kicks I shoot the 40 out of my S&W610

I bought a Glock 23 and sold it to my brother in law who can't keep a gun for over a week, Never shot it.
I bought another one a year or so later and sold it for $200 more then I paid for it, never shot it.
Cabelas had the Walther PPS either 9mm or 40cal on sale so I bought two of them in 40 caliber. My son came out here for a visit last January to help me set up my reloading stuff. He shot a magazine or ammo threw it and didn't like it. I haven't shot it, I am trying to sell one of them and I'll probably keep the other.
I do have a Glock 20 in 10mm that I carry when I go up in the Cascades where there is a chance of bumping in to a meth cooking operation.
I like having 16 rounds of 100 on my belt instead of 6 rounds of 357 magnum or 6 rounds of 44 magnum.
I should at least shot the Walther PPS my kid shot to see how I like it, I do have a bunch of 40 caliber ammo up in my gun room.

I have a S&W M&P 40 FS , Picked-up 2 10rd M&P 9mm mags for $10.00 each! So I bought the Strom Lake conversion barrel!!
Best thing about a glock 22/23/27 is you can swap the barrel for a 9mm (or .357sig)
G20 gets you 10, 40, 357Sig, 9x25 and 9mm.
Should also be able to get .460 Roland as well right?

The Glock 20 will also accept the 460 Rowland conversion which gives you 44 Mag power in a semi-auto handgun. The compensator reduces about 50-60% of the recoil so it is very easy to shoot.
I'll get a .40 eventually. Don't know which gun it'll be though. Still kinda want a USP, maybe that in .40.
I'm not especially a fan of .40s&w myself.
It's really just as simple as that I'm not convinced that it has enough of any significant ballistic advantage over modern 9mm to be worth what I consider to be the disadvantages of it's very snappy recoil profile; which I feel makes for slower follow up shots for me personally.
At this point I've eliminated .40 from my collection to the point where it seems almost an annoyance to take up space stocking ammo for just one or two guns.
The only way I think I'd be interested in .40 nowadays would be as a conversion caliber option if I had a 10mm.

I've actually never heard of any good things about 40 S&W; seems like it's a well hated round. I don't really have an opinion, but I would rather carry a 9mm if given the option.

Correct. Same guy. Same calibrated gel. Same brand of gun. Same brand of ammo. One 40 S&W. One 9mm. Both heavy for caliber. The 9mm penetrated an inch deeper and the .40 S&W expanded a millimeter larger.
