Don’t worry. It’s pretty easy to remove rattle can paint when you don’t want it anymore.

That is a very clean mounting solution.Ordered the Aimpoint T2 Mount that works with the KOP Platform from Sabrewerks 13. It has integrated milled rear irons. It’s a highly secure mount. It’s milled to slide on to the platform with a dovetail and then the locking pin goes through the hole in the front which really locks it down even more. The locking pin is also what locks down the gas tube (no longer fighting with that stupid gas tube lever.) I could have chosen their T1 mount but I prefer to have the rear irons in front of the optic and having it be a little less obtrusive. It’s all coming together! Here’s a few pictures I’ve found of people running the T2 mount and how it looks in case anyone else is wondering on upgrading their AK. I can’t wait to get my hands on this complete build. It’s rock solid since it’s part of the front trunnion. No problem with return to zero if you need to take it off and put it back on.That is a very clean mounting solution.
Have we discussed the AK-19?
Spoiler: it comes in a western bloc caliber.

I am more of an AR fan for all those reasons but as an AK fan on the side there are some advantages as well. One of them is not reliability, that being equal between the two I'd say. The AK is however simpler and easier to takedown for cleaning, requires less cleaning and is more tolerant of neglect overall.I have been going back and forth with this for years in my head. But when it comes down to it, the extra weight, the limited hand guard options, the rocking of the magazine for inserting, the lack of detaching a magazine with the use of a finger, the lack of no last round bolt hold open, the lack of sending the bolt home with just the push of a button, the safety, and the charging handle make me say to myself that the AR is still superior regardless of the extra reliability you get with an AK just for the ergonomics alone.
Even a NY Thorsden equipped AR is more ergonomic.
Nothing to do with the lacquer. Steel cases need a steep taper for best function. Narrow taper like on 5.56 isn't optimal. In regards to reliability, as long as both are minimally kept clean (Which most people do), they are equal. The AK gets the edge on extremely poor maintenance however. I saw comparison videos which are over the top where one dude stuck a Hostess Twinkie in the AK action and it still fired and cycled.
Then you have the steel case issue. I never had an AK but had both an AR and an SKS. With the AR, I have had stuck cases in the chamber when the laquer melted. Never with the SKS. It was made for that and I’m sure the AK is as well.
Awkward set of movements, but damn if that guy doesn't have the muscle memory to make it look smooth.
I agree, Travis is awesome with AK’s. Except for that one time where he ND’d an AK on film. It happens to the best of them, lol. While I really love Polenar Tactical, I still stick with Travis for AK related things..
Id love to get to one of his AK classes (or any rifle class)
