So with the Haley Strategic Thorntail2 this is how it sits currently (and in the photos from the other day)

Much closer and tighter but the powerful modlite deff hits the front sight posts, but I'm thinking an in-between spot once the new tailcap comes in and I can use the tape switch (hotbutton) and see how the light pollution is through the red dot if any of that makes sense

So anyways I ordered a 5 slot picatinny rail that attaches to mlok and (while not ideal) should work well enough for what I need it for.

Now where it gets good, I was originally hesitant about the 9 o'clock mounting if the pressure pad/button because not ambidextrous. Then I just realized that won't be a problem since I got my hands on a Surefire ds00 tailcap.. which had a built in clicky tailcap button so the saiga HD build is going to be semi better than originally pictured in my mind..

Now to deal with cable management (when the mlok rail and tailcap come in)

Ok so for the magazine solution.. looks like I should have originally bought HSGI tacos and will be doing so in the future..

Using 2 Tacos rifle pouches how I have the 2 Kywis right now I'd be able to keep my belt set up exactly like this, but use both 7.62x39 AK mags AND 5.56x45 AR mags without having to swap pouches.


I wish I remembered the tacos from the beginning

Blueforce Gear Ten Speed pouches can accommodate STANAG and AK mags. Just sayin'

So I originally bought the Sabrewerks T2 direct mount but quickly realized that while activating my Cloud REIN LCS that’s on my SLR rail...the mount is too low and while my thumb is on the LCS, it’s going to block almost half of my sight picture. I don’t want to run the optic on the SLR rail itself since this build is already pretty front heavy, especially when the Sandman-S is on there. So I bought another mount and picked up the KOP short rail. Fits perfectly and completely clears the LCS while my thumb is on it. I’m going to be putting a lower 1/3rd Holosun on it but for now the EXPS is the same 1/3rd height to get an idea of sight picture. Though I have to admit that I do really like the EXPS on the AK (might have to buy another).

Here you can see approximately how high the center of the optic would sit in correlation to where my thumb would be if I mounted it to the direct T2 mount. Disregard the Eotech on the rail since I stated before I don’t want to run it on the rail. I was just placing it there to try and figure out optic heights.)

Hey guys, anybody know of any gunsmiths that would take work from NYers? Ive got a Saiga 5.45 Im trying to get the FSB changed out on and everyone I contact just gives me the "No Nyers" schtick.

Its fixed mag, when it lives here and possibly not fixed mag when I actually shoot in PA. Anyone have any suggestions :(

CW Gunwerks worked on mine. You can try reaching out to them and see what they say. They do great work. You’d just have to ship it out to them, not sure if that’s something you’d be willing to do.

Just picked up a Riley Defense RAK-47,I'll report back after I send some freedom seeds down the pipe.
I set an old red dot ontop just for the visual,not sure if I want optics on it yet.

As of now it appears to your only option for mounting optics is the side rail. I’d suggest checking out RS Regulate if you’re still looking for quality mount, they make some nice ones.

I just finished watching that. When he threw out the poll last week I knew it was a foregone conclusion.
I suppose if I ever get around to getting a 7.62x39 gun I may as well make it a Galil trio. I think I prefer the Gen 1 Ace though. I like having the integral sights and I actually like the factory stock. If I could pick an choose it would be a Gen 1 with the Gen 2 trigger and the new 13" barrel length.
