Let's talk about scopes...... again.

I have some...... unique BUIS on the DD, they can pivot off to the side by 45°. If they can fit under the scope and be deployed while the scope is mounted I can forgo the QD function completely.

Most likely will not work but I have a super light bicycle tool in my grip storage that allows me to remove the mount in seconds should I need to.
Good mounts should always return to zero. The QD is a bit over rated but if it is a good quality and needed then why not.
But once again, you will have to wait for the scope to come so you can do some fitting and measures and then see what is available that might
fit you the best. Same like with ergonomics. The rings / mount shoudl be the very last thing so you can put that glass where you want it.
I shoot better with mid to low rings and still have a padded cheek raiser in the ARs. So I look for a position ergonomics that is familiar to me across many guns including a larger than average LOP. I shoot a lot prone so I get really down to drive the rifle.

Thats why I plan to drive out to EuroOptics, I will see what mounts they have on offer and which might work for me. I will avail myself of any scope mounting service the might have which I have to imagine they would only be too happy to provide after I lay out 2 grand.

Just talked to a fellow on the phone. They have MOA versions bit not the MIL versions. They do however offer a mounting service and In will be taking my rifle over there to test out a bunch of what they have. Including the mounts. Unless I buy a laptop instead.

So I'm currently looking at the Primary Arms 1-6x6X24mm SFP scope w/ACSS 300BLK/ 7.62X39 Reticle for my Saiga 7.62x39 (now that I see thordson has a "decent" option for a featureless AK making a saiga conversion here in new York an option)

So I'm seeing it's a 24mm but the one side mount option I've seen was saying they used 30mm scope rings...... what am I missing here I thought a 24mm would need 24mm rings . Sorry I'm not much of a scope person, but am liking more and more the idea of low variable powered 1-4 or 1-6 scopes over just a red dot so trying to figure that all out

I think there are better options in the 30mm rings than the 24 mm rings. Probably just cheaper to run adapters

I think you are confusing the tube size, 30mm. with the objective lens size, 24mm. Scopes are specified using their power range and objective lens size. You don't need adapters for this scope, rings are 30mm. Check the specs on the right side of this page.

I'm still interested in the ACSS reticle. More interested in the PA over an ACOG with ACSS.
@Edwardteach72 PA also has a Platinum model available in 1-8x24 with ACSS. It retails for about $1100-1200.
Much better model built in Japan with their glass. More robust with better construction than the plain models.
I have an 18'' M1A that I'm considering it for. Read somewhere the illuminated reticle will bleed over at above 5x but for use on an 18'' barrelled rifle that should be great for around here. Plus the illumination doesn't always have to be on. Tunneling is said to be at a minimal for a scope in this price range.

The 1-8 PA scope is a 34mm tube so I imagine the FOV and eyebox to be improved over 30mm models. Though everything I have learned so far tells me that field of view and eye relief/forgiving eye box are at loggerheads with each other.
Still I think that scope is an excellent option, seems to do everything as well as the Trijicon Accupower 1-8 for a few hundred less.

Primary arms is not an optics company but an online retailer.
They buy OEM scopes from china and put their name on them like countless others do.
Vortex they also order them and do partial assemblies but there is a difference, they do have strict specs and do understand optics and have
a support model to assure continuity and repairs should they ever be needed.
Take weaver tactical and vortex viper PST and they are japanese tubes and high end camera grade japanese glass of pretty good quality and
that is why they are not as cheap so you can start putting them along side with Leupold and other german makers in terms of quality of glass, reliability and features.
Primary arms can buy a japanese OEM and pretend they are involved in optics but they are not.
The QA in many of their products is not there because they are retailers.

In the end, like always, you get what you pay for.

Thanks for the heads up @meketrefe . I will not be making that purchase now. If I do buy overseas it will be German or Romanian. I hear nthing but good of Shott's glass. Most likely will be an American tube with Japanese glass. I wish the ACOGs were available with a non magnified power like 1-6x. They do come with a ACSS in some models. They also use Shott's, so I read.

All I am saying let other do the leg work. Wait for folks putting them through their paces and see what is up.
That is why you see the tipical suspects when you go to competitions specially when not just precision but ruggedness and reliability is needed
and when one is ready to drop some level of coin then there are a bunch of them that show up pretty frequently.
The NF is afterall a service scope with the Army, Rangers, Seals and other folks.
So there are others but not primary arms... so far .. I believe.

@meketrefe some of your previous statements are not true. Namely the PA 1-8 is not Chinese. It is of Japanese make, possibly from the same manufacturer that the excellent Vortex Razor HDs are from, though I have seen conflicting information on that point. Speaking of Vortex their Viper PST is actually of Philippine origin, not Japanese. The Razor HD line is Vortex's top end Japanese line. I have not looked through the PA 1-8 but if the optical clarity and overall is equal to the the Vortex HDs than it would be of very high quality indeed.
@96coal449, if you are fine with the fairly high weight, for a low power variable, of the Primary Arms 1-8 then I would still consider it. It offers Japanese optical clarity and performance and a price well below its competitors. The similar Night Force ATACR for example is $2,100.

Thanks for bringing this up, Pod. I don't mind Japanese glass at all. For the price of the Platinum I very well grab this for something to play with despite the weight. My M1A is at 9lbs dry in a wood stock, and no mount. I have a steel Sadlack mount for it, and a GI fiberglass stock that will be refinished this spring. Who knows, I may change my mind yet again before the next month or so.

yes my bad ..some vortex are Philippines, still pretty good quality.
Primary Arms does not have product development or support teams nor support nor they are an optics company. This is a fact.
Just be careful with all these retailers since they have some good stuff but also some pretty crappy things.
I think when it comes to certain budget I want to stick to optics companies that have been around for a long time.

Yeah I'm not going over seas to operate operations operationally with my saiga or anything it will be just for fun at a range fun and to take deer hunting so I don't really need to drop a G on glass for it or anything like that so primary arms is still good 2 go for me.
