I agree, these setups are really sweet. I’m getting my Glock 34 milled right now. Then I’m going to get a nice aftermarket barrel for it (still haven’t decided on which one) and I’ll be sending it out to have it ported to match the top window hole in the slide. Then I can use the same holster as I do for my comped 19.

Yeah, I heard. Mod K is terrible. I was originally thinking about going with Mod K but then heard about Kazz and Mod K and it all went down hill. Which sucked because the “Game Winner” package looks nice. But I already started looking around, and I’m pretty sure I’ll be going with South West Precision for the porting. Reasonably priced and has good customer service.

Talking about guns that are integrally comped, have you seen the new ZEV OZ9 Hyper-Comp?! Looks pretty sweet. It kind of reminds me of the Agency NOC, just without the comp on the end. It has it integrated on the top like a ported barrel. But the long rounded notch that is cut out of the slide definitely looks a lot like the NOC design.

I used to have a Meprolight Triangle and found it easy to use. Whole triangle on body or point for more precise shots.

I don't have time to search right now, but the triangle reticle reportedly has brightness issues, can get washed out. Look into it first.

1st. Fuck Suarez. Honestly for a gen 3 or 4 if you don't want to mill your OEM slide, go with a brownells slide.

Next I'd suggest the following dots. In no real particular order

Trijicon RMR (either a RM06 or RM07) *

Holosun 407c °, 507c, 508t or eventually 509t ~

Aimpoint ACRO `

* - the problem with the duel illuminated RMRs are they tend to wash out very bright light. I always suggest Manuel adjustable ones because if you can always set it and forget it based on a constant known light (or lack thereof) environment, or if things change you can (even under concealment) adjust accordingly on the fly.

* continued - for the RMR the RM06 is a 3.24moa dot and the RM07 is a 6.5moa dots personally I love my 6.5moa dot because I was an am still building proficiency, but eventual would like to get to the point of owning an RM09 which is the 1moa dot.

Oh and last thing for the battery powered RMR.. battery life is 2 years constant on. Most people change it once a year. Pick a date, take it off replace battery put it back on, head to the range and rezero the optic.

° - the 409c is the least expensive option listed, it works with the Trijicon RMR milling footprint and is the same thing as the 509c, only difference is it only has the red dot option. Has the other features of the 509c such as a solar panel on top, but iirc the holosun optics are getting about the same battery life as the RMR or damn close....

But main point of the 409c... it's the same as the 509c in every way but the reticle options, it only comes with a red dot.

507c and 508t.. both are the same but the 508t comes with a metal (titanium I believe) body hence the T. But both offer the option for 3 different reticules.

Option 1: 2 moa dot with a 65 moa circle around the dot

Option 2: 2 moa dot only

Option 3: 65 moa circle only.

One of these may be your best options especially of you are thinking of the 12.5moa triangle. The 2 moa dot can be used if very precise shots are needed and the 65moa circle can be used like a giant ghost ring (same concept as the triangle but allowing less visual input to be blocked)

~: the 509t is the newest option from Holosun (well one of there is a few others but semantics) so finding a slided milled for one may be difficult right now, this one is a closed emitter like the Aimpoint ACRO, or more traditional rifle red dots. And many may see that as a positive to protect the emitter from being blocked and the dot no longer showing up.. I just really like them.

I have also read closed emitters are easier for or more natural for the eye to pick up the dot, I cant comment on that.. I do really want a 509t myself, maybe one day.

Lastly the ACRO: awesome optic, hopefully they drop the price to be competitive. The one and only real downside to the ACRO is the battery life is the lowest out of all these options.. Aimpoint claims 6 months or so constantly being on. I've seen reports saying they die as early as 6 weeks.

Positive to that is you can replace the batteries with the optic still mounted and it maintains zero. Other positive is batteries are relatively inexpensive.

I mathed it out (cause I also kind of want an acro) you could change the batteries every 4 weeks or the 1st of every month, and so 12 batteries in a whole year and it was less than $15. So again cheap relatively speaking (pretty much the RMR is less because its 1 single battery, but then you have to zero it and who knows how much ammo will cost next year lol)


So to recap after all those asterisks. Cant go wrong with any of those options.

Holosun 407c is the least expensive and doesnt have the circle dot option just a dot.

The 507 and 508 may be your best option with the 65 moa circle (507 less expensive but still very durable, Aaron Cowen was over 10,000 rounds with his last I knew, and that means he dropped it from shoulder height 20 times still holds zero and electronics are working. Just a slightly smashed glass, and the 508 more durable)

RMR most durable, can sometimes find good deals that put it around the 507 price.

509 it's cool as shit I want one but not sure who mills for them yet.

ACRO hella want one but expensive and battery life may be a concern.

Trijicon RMR on my M&P 9 with Apex barrel, trigger, sear and spring job. I really have fun with that little guy.

Aging eyes...best friend and I have decided to put red dots on most of our carry pistols. He has a Sig 226 (357 Sig) with a slide milled for a Holosun 508T with the green reticle and has two 407Ks ordered for a Ruger LC9S pro and for another Sig. The 508T is really nice with the 32 MOA circle and 2 MOA dot. It is FAST.

I have a Sig P320RXC with the Romeo 1. The Romeo 1 is a good, solid sight. I do get some “flare” at times if I do not take time to find the dot. It cowitnesses with the BUIS; if I use the BUIS to find the dot, it is quick and very accurate. Not as fast as the 508T with the 32MOA circle...need to practice.

I had my Sig P365 milled for a Holosun 507K; would not go with the polymer Romeo 0. I think this will be a really awesome combo, expect the 507K in early May.

I have a Glock 30S that I am going to mount a DPP on. I will use the mounting plate; I think this will also be a good combo. I will post range reports next month.
