I think I’ve boiled it down to this exact same set up myself. What mounting plate did you go with and how do you like the 6moa dot?My S&W Twins, Kinda! M&P 40/9 conversion and M&P 22 with Vortex Venom 6 MOA red dots.

Unfortunately according to their site that mounting plate won’t work on the M&P Shield. Looks like I’ll have to go with the one made by Outerimpact.I went with the EGW got it here EGW Sight Mount For Docter,Burris Fastfire, Vortex Venom & Viper for Smith & Wesson M&P
As far as the 6 MOA for shooting steel yesterday was the first time after sighting it in on Saturday, I only shot the M&P 22 and I did like it ( the Holographic sight is newer to me then say a standard red-dot like I had on my Bullseye pistol ) I am thinking about getting a 3 MOA and change out the Sig Romeo 5 on the Ruger PC9 next?

Just finished doing exactly that. Some sanding paper and a heat gun should clean the edges up nicely.
Since installing my red dot on my G19, I've been dry firing for a few minutes each day. The muscle memory that gets developed makes acquiring the red dot much easier.Anybody that's thinking about doing this, you may read that it takes some practice to find the dot. I rarely get to shoot, and maybe it's my lack of pistol irons usage, but I'm having zero issues with that.

I rarely get to shoot, and maybe it's my lack of pistol irons usage, but I'm having zero issues with that. Dot has lined up for me perfectly on every draw. This has to go back to Ruger for a barrel recall, and then we shall see how hard it is for me to aquire the dot after recoil.
I'm fairly new to pistols myself, but went with red dots on my ar's right away. I haven't really used iron sights much since I was really young. This seems like it's going to be a great fit for me on the pistol, especially since my close range vision is starting to go.My biggest problem was where to focus my eyes. Because I'm a relativity new pistol shooter I have been meticulous about focusing on the front sight post. I have found when running a red dot it better to focus on the target rather than up close. I doesn't sound like a big deal but when I was shooting the defensive pistol course you could see in the videos and time that it slowed me down when I focused wrong.

Oh it is easier and faster for sure, there is no argument from me. I was talking about when my focus goes to the front sight rather than the target. And because of this my reaction to the dot isn't nearly as fast.I have noticed the opposite.
I've run many rapid fire drills at my indoor range. I find that the red dot helps me get back on target much faster. I just "ride the bounce" of the red dot as I do with a rifle. I'm looking for combat accuracy. When the dot is just above or below the target, and is moving towards center mass (or the center of my target), I fire. I'm getting pretty reasonable at quick mag dumps into a 6 inch circle at 7 yards. I know...that's horrible target shooting. But, I'm just trying to get 10 rounds on target fast.
I find it much easier to shoot with both eyes open with a red dot than it is to focus on a front sight with both eyes open.

I would like somebody else with much more experience than me to try it and see what they think.
I’m curious which way you teach for shooting at a target directly on your driver’s side window.Center........... .Axis............ Relo..............
Go ask Taran Tactical.
Or learn how to shoot properly.
