It is raining like a sumbitch and that shi5cans my range trip. What sucks even more is I'm Eastering with family next weekend so I won't be able to hit the range for two weeks now. I should bought this las weekend, it was beautiful then.

So I have been researching what the issues were with the Romeo 1 and how, or if, the Rome 1 Pro is different. The Romeo 1 used a magnesium body. While magnesium alloy has a high strength to weight ratio its ultimate strength is lower than the 6065 aluminum the Pro housing is made of and there is also the steel shroud. That should adequately address the toughness of the housing. SIG claims the electronics are different as well, while I don't know if this is true or even relevant I do know the Pro has a different mounting footprint than the Romeo 1. These three things lead me to believe that the Romeo 1 Pro is in fact an entirely different optic than the Romeo 1. And here is the kicker, like several of SIG's optics the Romeo 1 Pro is manufactured in the Holosun plant for SIG. Hopefully therfore the Romeo Pro will prove to be an adequate optic in my service. I'll let you all know.

That drop test montage was painful.
Yeah, 20 shoulder height drops. The 509T is a tank. I would say pretty confidently that the majority of optics out there aren’t surviving that. Especially the optics with convex shaped hoods like the DPP, Romeo01/Pro, RomeoZero, SRO, 507C...the convex shape is inherently weaker than the flat hoods or the concave shaped hood of the RMR.

This leads me to believe this will be a MOS direct mounted Holosun, Steve teased this 2 years ago (iirc) with a batteryless Holosun
2nd while looking at comments.. there looks to be something in the works for the Aimpoint ACRO.

Just did the website based on the little bit of what his may have been (all base no cost upgrades other than an optic cut for an RMR) and it was just shy of a $3,300

With that open top there is no way it would pass his test's.
Headed to the range tomorrow with that new SIG of mine (also my even newer Shield Plus, yay!).
I am not going to drop it onto concrete from shoulder hight but I will be running 500 rounds of Winchester NATO and 50 124gr +p HSTs through it in a 3-4 hour time period. If it survives that we should be able to at least say the Romeo Pro is better than the Romeo 1.
And if I really get into the whole red dot pistol thing I'll look into putting a 509 on the G19 since the Shield Plus will likely become my go to carry gun, thus leaving the Glock as my Training/SHTF piece.

Nope, Shield is for deep concealment. It will remain slick and simple.
509T is great. 508T is also a nice option. Both will definitely do the job.
