Wait....what? A pistol that doesn't use magazines? WTF is that contraption?
It's called a "wheel" gun because it's from back when they invented the wheel. One of them steam powered pistols I suppose.

I'm interested in a micro compact red dot for a Glock 43. I've wanted to try the Holosun 507K-X2. I cannot seem to find them anywhere? I don't want to send my slide out to get milled until after I get an optic (just in case I cannot get the optic for which I've had the slide milled).
Have these Holosun sights been discontinued as a result of the lawsuit against Holosun by Trijicon?
How bright do you have the optic turned up? When I turn my rmr up relatively bright, you start to get artifacts of the led bouncing around the inside of the optic.I have a new Holosun 508T-V2-GR sight.
I noticed when I tilt the muzzle of the gun downward I see a
red line (reflection) running from one side of the glass to the other.
Is this normal ?
Thanks. I'll have to wait to get my slide milled, then.Nope the lawsuit has been fixed. They had to change the button size on all or some of the optics so they are probably going to be shipping soon
The red led when turned up bright in general will emit light that bounces off the internal housing of the optic which in turn reflect of the glass and back to your eye. So if the brightness is turned up and reflecting off the surfaces inside, it can create lines.I have a new Holosun 508T-V2-GR sight.

I’ve noticed on some red dots the red lines will run pretty much the edge of the glass on the inside of the optic. Which only way I can describe it is the optics glass kind of acts in the way a fiber optic cable acts to light. If the brightness is turned up relatively high, the led hits the optics lens and then will travel through the lens to the edges where the light has no where else to travel to that’s why you see the red light around the edges of the optic window.I had it on auto in my house.
I'll try lowering the brightness.
I think it may be a reflection from where the front glass is glued at the bottom.
When I tilt the muzzle all the way up I get a green line across the bottom of the sight.
Is this optic on a gun that will ever be used in a defensive situation?I had it on auto in my house.

I’d suggest turning the auto brightness off if you’ll be using it for any defensive situation. But try it out for yourself. The auto brightness is nice for conserving battery but it’s not optimal all the time. You can really see the flaw in using the auto brightness when you and your target are in two different lighting conditions. For example, stand in a very darkly lit room and aim somewhere that’s very well lit (like outside through a window), the optic will be very dim since you’re standing in a dark area and the reticle will be pretty much unusable and washed out. Same thing happened being in a dark house and the reticle will auto dim, but when you momentarily turn your weapon mounted light (or handheld) light on, your reticle will be washed out. The opposite happens when you’re in a very bright area and aiming into somewhere dark. Your reticle will be very bright and blooming obscuring your sight picture. Not mounted yet but will be.
Try and get some pictures of it if you can. I know it’s a little tricky to get reticles and reflections to replicate in pictures.Even with the brightness turned all the way down inside or outside a red line
(reflection) is seen along the top of the glass when the muzzle is tilted down.
Is this something that is common on Holosun red dots ?
From that photo it doesn’t look too bad. What I’m seeing is mostly the coating on the lens that allows for better battery life. Can’t really pick up the led reflection.Photos won't show it.
Seems like a refraction from the bottom of the glass.
It bounces across the top.
Reflection disappears if you cover glue bead along bottom of lens with paper.
Too tight to get in with a sharpie.
Marker will wind up on lens.
Not to mention with how long it’s taking for people to get their Holosun optics recently, who knows how long you would have to wait until you received the replacement.I called customer service and told them about the slight red line (reflection) across the top of the lens when I point the muzzle down. They said the reflection is "kinda" normal, probably caused by an excessive bead of glue sealing the lens.
I also mentioned coloring the bead of glue with a fine sharpie. He thought that would work.
If I wanted, I could send it back and they would replace it with a 508T- X2-GR which has the smaller side buttons.
After looking at all the images on line of the same RDS the glue beads all look the same.
It would be a moot point to send it back. I decided to keep it and sent it L&M Precision Gunworks in NC along with my Glock 19 Gen5 slide to be milled. I will let you know how it works out. Thanks for all the feedback.
A longer barrel will still be more accurate for longer distances. Won't it?Question for those with red dots.
I like the glock 19 because its easier to conceal than a full size like the 17, even though the 17 fits my hand better. I would imagine that with a red dot the longer slide of the 17 is basically negated for sighting purposes. So is there any benefit of going with a larger gun if running a red dot?
With a 17 over a 19 you’ll still get the benefit of a longer barrel which inherently should be more accurate. You’ll also have more rounds in a 17 mag than a 19 mag (not taking mag extensions into consideration, or the unSafe Act round count restrictions). But if concealability is the main issue and concealing a 17 is difficult for you, I’d choose the 19 and not feel outgunned at all. I love the 19.Question for those with red dots.

I do see how the 1/2 longer barrel should be more accurate regardless of the sighting system, round count for me is moot unless I move to a free state. I n reality, a 17 shouldnt be that much harder to conceal over the 19. I may look to sell my 21 to snag a 17 mos. With a 17 over a 19 you’ll still get the benefit of a longer barrel which inherently should be more accurate.
