Trump claims he doesn't make red lines, but you can make a line without saying those words and he's done that. He has said he won't let NK have what they are on the cusp of having.


Trump said NK was the greatest threat to the US. He's been president six months now and policy has not changed whatsoever, meanwhile NK has twice this year successfully tested an ICBM.

Tell me again how Trump is not screwing this up just like everybody else did.

First, You never answered the question .You gave me no alternate suggestions just a complaint. Instead of complaining that Trump is Dick, what would you do? or do you think the best option for the country is at this time?

Personally,I believe he has no other choice, HIs joint Chiefs are going to need time to identify all of his Nuke sites and prepare an attack accordingly, this could take weeks or months. an immediate attack without knowing where all the sites are is foolish and would end it disaster. I believe he is listening to his Military staff on this , you don't want to go in half assed.

I fully believe 100% that is he going to attack the norths nuclear sites . But not tomorrow.

July 5, 2017 Seoul, South Korea—North Korean leader Kim Jong-un vowed Wednesday his nation will "demonstrate its mettle to the US" and never put its weapons programs up for negotiations, a day after successfully testing its first intercontinental ballistic missile.

He has been threating them for 6 months, If he fails to attack , US threats around the globe will be worthless.
Moreover, We have the responsibility to defend Japan. If we don't act, Our word is mud. Japan will be forced to build an air force and army capable of defending her island. They haven't had to do that since WW2.

He is going to give them as much time as possible until the forces are ready. If they still refuse , he has no other choice. To say he has done nothing is ridiculous. He has moved two carrier groups unknown number of submarines , off their coast and boosted the number of bombers , Those ships alone could cripple NK . That my friend, is threat.

To say that he didn't go to war yesterday means that he wont is wrong on so many levels, I don't think the man has a choice.

@holdover, he needs to either give up on north korea or get more serious. That means either preemptive military attack or, my preference, blockade all their ports and try and shut down their trade via talking to china/russia so that they are 100% locked in and cannot move. The former approach risks a wider war but i doubt NK responds to US attacks by retaliating against the south. The second option results in probably thousands of north koreans starving.

Giving up is definitely an option. Stop making us look stupid and weak and just say f it I'm taking my ball and going home. Let NK do what they want and jack up missile defense.

So far trump has been doing what all other presidents have done, which is nothing [meaningful].

They have had all the time they need. NK is not going to change course. If your argument is that Trump is actively building up forces as quickly as possible in the region, then he is doing something. I don't believe he's doing that, though. I think he's truly hoping somebody else (e.g. china) will solve this for him.

I'm happy to see nikki haley say that they are not asking the UN for an emergency meeting because it is a waste of time.

We'll continue do do nothing with N Korea as we've done since 1953. Could you imagine that outcry nowadays if we "wiped them off the map"?? The fallout from Nukes would 100% and completely cover all of South Korea and immediate bordering countries. As great as it sounds, the international community will never allow it, and Trump will be pulled one way by warmongering Generals and pulled the other by the rest of the world...a secret poison, or black ops shit is the way this will go down..

You guys might be right. Maybe they won't do anything. But this is going to shift the balance of power in the Pacific and around the world. The thing about a navel blockade is that it is an act of war. And you have placed nk in the position of being morally right.

If they could get close to Kim poison ... would be great . If they could launch spec oops teams that would be great. But either of those two are not likely.

If we just leave him alone, we concede global power. Personally, I don't want to see a war either. But the powers that be might not feel that way.

We should fly a formation with every plane we can muster.

50 B1s, 50 B52s, a dozen B2s, and hundreds of F15/18/16/22s .

i.e. planes that can drop enough precision guided munitions to take out every artillery piece within range of Seoul within minutes.

Just fly the whole formation across the whole peninsula about 20 miles south of the DMZ just below the cloud cover.

Those comments don't get made hap hazardly. That's some serious weight and a major claim to make.

I just don't know the motivation behind it. Is it to make NK understand the severity of the situation or is it a ploy to undermine the trump administration and our country's foreign policy?

I would take it as a serious warning, the NK's won't. They see the US as a paper tiger . There is nothing the US can say that would scare or concern nk. Nothing. They view the US as politically weak. They see the US military still fighting in the Mideast after 16 years. They see that as incompetence. They see the American pubic As war weary and without the resolve to take heavy casualties .they have seen numerous presidents threaten them or bribe them so nothing Trump says will scare them.

A full scale mobilization with massive troop and naval buildup in the area may get their attention. Anything short of that is laughed at.

It might get them to the negotiating table, it might get them to launch a preemptive attack. No way to know. What is clear, is that nothing short of force is going to alter their resolve. NK is not afriad of the US. So we either do what we need to do to back up our retoric and fufill our obligations to our allies and our own interests, or we STFU and go away. Those are the choices we now have thanks to lame duck, BS, non-leadership for the past 3 admimistrations at least.

I don't see them negotiating thier nukes .that is now their source of power. That's their ace in hole. That's what scares the US.

They spent a lot of time and money to get here, they're not going to just turn it over to s bunch of weaklings.

It's highly unlikely graham is lying, but it's very possible that trump and him agreed that he'd say this even if trump doesn't necessarily believe it. It costs nothing at this point for NK to believe it, even if it's not true (maybe it will change their behavior, though I personally believe nothing will other than military force).

The question is does the public and trump have the will to fight what will become a nuclear war with NK? With civilian casualties possibly in the millions?

It will only be nuclear if we wait. If the US struck now NK could not respond in a meaningful fashion to hurt the US...They also wouldnt yet be able to deliver any nukes over SK soil. I think by far the people who would suffer the most in a war would be the north koreans. They would get absolutely gang banged by the modern militaries of the USA and SK and after living for decades in crap, then suffering immediate impacts of the war plus the subsequent shame of being obliterated so easily it would be tough.

The Kim dynasty should have been squashed a long time ago unfortunately.

I wonder if Trump is maybe waiting for them to actually verifiably put a nuke on a missile before he takes them out? Might give him solid ground to stand on when the inevitable attacks from the left and media come.
